There is absolutely no hesitation needed.  Police are our last line of civilization, and they need our support.  They've needed it for years...even more so now.

It does not matter what group of people are targeted. This is a sickening and frightening occurrence.

My thoughts and prayers for the officers and families.

Zack your a solid member so no worries on speaking your mind, Ron you have always been a stand up man and I appreciate your support.  Johnny this is a cowardly act and its heart wrenching!! Feels like we lost our own even from such a great distance.

Sad day and troubling times without a doubt.

To all reading this, please keep it civil and please keep politics out.

I understand people would like to express their feelings and that is ok.  I'll caution however if this thread starts to go sideways it will be closed.

sitting here at my volunteer job right now at the local Sheriff's office.  Even this small county has had numerous face offs with criminals aiming to kill them.  just sickening.  Mostly just great people trying to do a very tough job that get harder each day.  I am horored to know and help them.

I can not help to escape the thought that we are headed for a tear in this country.  There is a disturbing undertoe of anger, brother against brother, that seems to be growing.

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity - Yeats

I just read 35-40 police officers a year are killed in the US, when in the line of duty.

That's a lot - and I think one of the reasons for that relatively high number somehow has to do wirh the fact, that so many US citizens have access/owns a gun.

I will try to avoid touching any political corners, but let's just say that I feel I understand both sides here.

The police do this as their job every day, and they often have to handle citizens, who are armed - so I fully understand they can be nervous too.

I also understand some of the black people, because some of the videos showcasing a police man shooting a black man running in the back offends me too.
You just do not shoot a running man in the back from 20 meters distance. No matter the circumstances.

Before this thread is closed - I will stop right here.

Hope my post will not be deleted, because as I say I understand both parts here.

Year to date, there have been 344 homicides in Chicago. This statistic gets virtually zero press coverage. Police officers should make as much money as basketball players for the work they do.

Mankind ( I use the classic German meaning for all of humanity, quickly grown weary of PC language seizures instead of a musical flow) is capable of great beauty; a work by Mozart, painted caves in Southern France and Northern Spain, The Taj Mahal, poetry of Haffez. Conversely we seem
determined as individual or nation to descend with great enthusiasm to horrors beyond belief. Argument of solution invariably descends to more
horror, backburning to stop an inferno that only burns us too. We must all look within and find our own genius to advance beauty over horror. To
label ourselves with tribal titles of Liberal or Conservative, blue eyed VS brown, seek prophet and white knight is avoiding personal responsibility. We were created upright with opposable thumbs.
People need to stand up and oppose horror on all levels; from the rude remark to WMDs. It starts with me. It starts with you.

Just because there has been a couple of cases where the cop used bad judgement does not mean all or most cops are bad. The vast majority of cops are brave men who put their lives on the line everyday. One sign of a true hero is when other people are running away from something the cops are running to it. They are our first line of defense.

Totally agree. All the victims--Dallas, Minnesota, Baton Rouge, Orlando, Colorado Springs, San Bernadino, Sandy Hook, Littleton, on and on. I'm very sad tonight.

It's sickening there is a fan page for the guy who shot those officers too..... It's the media's fault for demonizing a police officer giving the generalization that all cops are bad and will shoot you.
