I ordered this last December as a Christmas gift for myself. Gustavo said it would take 3 or 4 months, but I knew it was worth the wait. He mailed it in April. It arrived here in Canada yesterday. Yesterday! Like, 4 months to cross the ocean.

It's a Romera Blond Horn, as you can see. Lots of authentic imperfections in the horn, and the natural ring growth pattern—but that's what makes each one unique. Gustavo said the horn is completely sealed and I won't have any problems with chipping or flaking.

I must say that Gustavo is a delight to work with. He returns e-mails promptly, and, even though it's not his fault, he's sending me a gift brush of his choosing just because this one took so long to arrive.

It goes into action this weekend. Never had a Manchurian badger before.

Thanks to Optometrist for inspiring me. He posted photos of his, and I placed my order a couple days later.

Have a look gentlemen—

Congratulations sir, you did well. It will be worth the wait. While I don't own any Romera brushes,
I have several of Gustavo's knots in restores. I use them just as much as my Simpson and M&F brushes.

The Romera Manchurian knots are wonderfully soft and the performance is top notch. You're in for a real treat.

Congratulations on a beautiful brush.  It has a nice rustic look to it.  I've never tried a Romera knot but have read many positive reviews about them.

Are the knots made by himself or are they of a commercially available variety?

Good question.  He doesn't say on his website.

They sure are fine.  I couldn't wait until the weekend, and tried mine out this morning.  WOW, that Manchurian knot sure is superb.  My first time using one.  Was going to just keep it for my Saturday shaves, but I suspect it will see use during the week as well.  Too good just to sit there and look nice.

I always like his brushes and would love to try/buy one. I didnt care for the simpson manchurian hair, so im skeptical to try another. Tbh though, I didn't give it a year of use either to really break in. People do swear by them. But you have a really nice brush there.

Gustavo's knots are NOTHING like Simpson's Manchurian.  Gustavo's knots are very soft and easy on the face.  I have yet to hear of anyone not enjoying these knots.

Bingo!

You said it right. They are nothing alike.

Gustavos manchurian is one of the best in my opinion.

Shave #2 today.  Absolutely delightful.  Best knot I've ever used.  Is blooming beautifully.
