What blade do you prefer for your SE Artist Club type razor? (Mongoose, ATT SE1, RX.) For me it's the Feather Pro. I find it to be extremely sharp, the sharpest of any blade IMO. It's also very smooth in my AlumiGoose V1 razor.

So what is your weapon of choice?

Haven't decided yet.

I'm down to three.

Feather Pro
Kai Captain
Kai Captain Mild

The Mild Kai is too gentle and causes me irritation by doing extra passes and applying pressure trying to get the same shave feel like the Feather Pro.

The Kai Captain is nice and smooth but it doesn't seem to have the same staying power and longevity as the Feather Pro. It is a lot nicer on the first run fresh out of the dispenser though.

The Feather Pro are probably all around the better ones for me but they can be a little harsh on the first and even the second run before they settle down and give me tons of effortless smooth shaves.

I am going to be trying these three for a couple more months. Hopefully with the RX too one day!

Another one you might consider is the Feather Pro Guard. They seem to be just a bit more gentle than the Feather Pros.

I have two Feather AC blade razors, the current versions of the SS Mongoose and the Alumigoose. In the Alumigoose, I prefer the Feather Super Pro, which has greater blade exposure than the Feather Pro. In the stainless Mongoose, I prefer the Feather Pro, due to the amazingly aggressive nature of the SS Mongoose. Each razor is awesome with the correct blade.

I alternate between the Feather Pro and Kai Mild blades.  I get a little closer with the Feathers but Kai's are so trouble free, I never have to worry about irritation.  I would add both to your repetoir.

I use a Feather AC Pro Super in my ATT SE-1, and in the AlumiGoose 2 which I later sold.
I also used to have an AlumiGoose 1, but it was so aggressive that it was only comfortable with a Kai Mild.

In my ATT SE1, I have tried Feather Pro and KAI Captain Titan Mild, so far. The Feather Pro tugged quite a bit whereas the KAI Captain Titan Mild was much smoother and gave a more satisfying and comfortable shave, though the end result was the same.

I have Feather Pro Super in stock, but haven't used them yet.

I can't understand why so many guys want to try the Feather Super Pro. I find the Feather Pro very sharp. If a guy can't get a close shave with a Feather Pro blade, they must have a really tough beard.

I wanted to try them because, well, I like to experiment. Cool

The only razor in which I use the Supers on a regular basis is the Alumigoose V2, arguably the mildest of the Artist Club type razors.

I have an AlumiGoose V1 and someone let me use an AlumiGoose V2. I didn't see a big difference. The V2 was only slightly milder IMO. I guess it's another case of YMMV.

I've never used an Alumigoose V1 but my understanding is that it is generally considered to be on the aggressive side.

YMMV and all, but I really cannot imagine anyone finding the V2 to be aggressive. It is significantly milder than the stainless steel Mongoose.

Bob, I would not make this offer to just anyone but if you would like to try my AlumiGoose V1, I would be more than happy to let you try it for a couple of shaves. Just send me a PM with your address if you are interested.

For me, it's not that one is sharper than the other. The Feather Super Pro is literally wider than the Pro, which makes for greater blade exposure. If a razor is too mild for your taste, just pop in a Feather Super Pro.

Feather Pro and Kai Mild. It depends upon the razor I'm using.

Yes, for me it does depend on the razor I'm using. In my AlumiGoose V1, I prefer the Feather Pro Guard because the razor is a bit aggressive. With my ATT SE1 I like the Feather Pro.

Right now Kai Captain Originals in my Mongoose and Kai Sharps in my ATT SE1.  Smoother for me (especially on the 1st few shaves) than the Feather Pros.

Guess I'll weigh in for the minority.  I can't figure out why being sharpest would be a disqualifyer for a razor blade.  A dull knife causes cuts, as does a dull razor blade.  In the Feather SS shavettes as well as Mongeese and my ATT SE-1 Bamboo, the only one that "cuts it" is the Feather Super Pro.
