I found it quite strong. My face felt really cold, quite bracing actually. Not saying it is a problem, just an observation. Could be that I am not used to creams with menthol in them. I think that the only other cream that has menthol and that I have is the Dr Harris Eucalyptus (which I haven't used yet)  Biggrin

Thanks for this post, been reading a bit about this soap and wondering about purchasing. I have just too many at the moment but see that this is consistently rated so highly by so many and may just find its way to me.
The menthol eucalyptus appeals to me.
Happy shaving

Dr Harris soaps are excellent, in fact I find them better than the creams and and are part of my rotation along with MDC, Tabac, MWF, I Coloniali, SMN, ADP, XPEC, Klar Seifen, Czech & Speake and et cetera. Stay away from the Dr Harris Natural soaps - awful. As for TOBS, I've only used the lavender, rose and avocado creams and found them average - nothing to write home about.
Cheers.

Every year with some friends we organize a so called "London day" ....pubs , clubs, and for sure a shave ;-) last year it was at G&T (BTW nothing extra and more expensive that a couple of soaps)...this year it will be an other barber shop.
Usually I am also visiting the Jeremyn street area...this year I am planing toooooo :-)
Planing to purchase some menthol soaps or creams...I do not know yet which one...
I am a big menthol fan and even adding some menthol crystal to a lot of soaps..
Not sure that they are better than Proraso...at around 3 $ where I live...but...

Rgds

I was just about to order the v3 from Lee's but they are out of stock. So I went to the SMN USA site, got to the final steps of ordering, and the $71 cream became $92 after shipping (thanks UPS) and tax (thanks New York State).
Aborted my order.
I'll wait till Lee restocks it.
Unless you know of someone else who carries the line??

I have some of the V1 that is at least 4 years old and it still works great.  I bought it from Lee's years ago.  Where are you getting this V3 formula?

I tried Lee's originally, but they were out of stock.
Then tried https://buy.smnovella.com and that's when the costs soared to the moon… shipping and tax (bc I'm now in NY state) added $21 to an already expensive $71 croap, so the total was $92.  I'm not frugal, but $92 just seems crazy.

Not sure where in NY you are, but you can always go to the SMN store in NYC. Not only do they have the soap but also an awful lot of very great smelling aftershaves and colognes.

Thanks Nathan, I forgot they had an actual storefront. I wonder if that's where that website ships from.

I don't disagree with you, $92 is an awful lot. I would probably pay it if the soap costs this much but to pay it on shipping is a waste of money.
That said, it's my top performing soap along with Nuavia Rosss. It's a wonderful performer and I really like the scent. I had a family member bring me this soap on their last Italy trip and it was €35!!!
I would definitely wait to get it cheaper elsewhere. You could also try to get it used here on the bst. I personally prefer to get soaps new especially croaps.
Btw who is Lee? What's his web store called?

I paid $60 AUD for mine ($46 USD), which is quite a bit cheaper than $72. SMN is the only croap I could not purchase from overseas; they won't ship it for some reason. I wonder why that is?

It's probably because SMN have stores allover the world and they want you to purchase from their local boutiques!

The poor man's SMN is (and I am that poor man) Savonnerie du bon Berger Volcans stick available at Bullgoose Shaving. SdbB competes at the highest level with SMN. Lather is beyond description and has mint and post shave quality is also superb.

We only have one place in Denmark, that sells this and they only get products from SMN 2 times a year.
Still on the wait list for this v3, hope I will get a call here in November.

How do we know which version we have?

By the way, for those of us up in the colony, Jacob & Sebastian in The Distillery in Toronto carry it for $88 (Can.)  They're out of stock at the moment, but are expecting more in very soon.

IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE?

I think I may have a heart attack.

I just checked the manufacturer's website  https://buy.smnovella.com .  Better sit down for this.

$71 for the shaving cream, $80.44 to ship it to Canada.  Total:  $151.44.  Or, for those of us in Canada:  $191.84.

No need to check your glasses, you read that correctly.

I'll be getting an extra one when it comes back in stock at Jacob & Sebastian.  Don't want to run out.

Stop, you're going to make $92 sound "reasonable" Biggrin
