I would call it thicker than your average container and probably thicker than the average glass container as well, but it's aluminium after all and I haven't used mine so not sure sturdy it is.

Just to answer the above question about the durability of these containers.  I have one in my travel case.  It is rock solid.  It looks like it was CNC'd out of a solid block of aluminum.  It is very thick, screws shut and water tight.  I worry more about dropping it and breaking the counter or tile floors more than I do damaging the container.  That's how solid the aluminum container is.
