Ever since Geo F. Trumpers send me a huge sample pack of their products I've had warm feelings about their company. I love their GFT cologne. I would really like to use their soaps, but everywhere I read I hear they are nigh impossible to lather.

Do any of you use and have success with Trumper's hard soaps? Can you tell me your experience with them? Have they gotten any better in the last couple of years, or has anyone figured them out yet?

If the ingredients list starts with Sodium Palmate expect a frustrating battle with your lather.  I have successfully shaved with this formulation but it was frustrating and far from pleasurable.

If the ingredients start with Potassium Palmate expect an easy to lather and pleasant shave.

If the ingredients start with Shave Soap Base, give me a shout immediately.  Wink

Go over to The Superior Shave website and look at the section on Geo. F Trumper Shaving Soap.  You'll find an interesting write-up and a video by the owner addressing whether these soaps are hard to lather.

I've heard a lot of people say that GFT's soaps are impossible to lather. It makes me wonder how they sell their soaps, and why there has yet to be a decent reformulation. Is it really that bad?

It really is and in consequence I don't buy their soap.
