After many delays, our 2-Band Manchurians have finally landed.  Hand made to our specifications by a small Chinese knotmaker, our Manchurians feature the same incredibly soft white tips and density of our 3-Bands, but with a bit more backbone.  They're available in 26mm and 30mm Fan and bulb shapes (sorry:  I wish we could include 24's & 28's, but costs and MOQ's dictated the cutoff.)  As with our 3-band Manchurians, our 2-bands feature incredible "free" loft--typically 10mm (or more) greater than the effective loft.  This additional free loft translates into greater than usual water and lather retention without sacrificing flow through.  Check out our standard line at Brad Sears ShaveWorks.  (And while you're at it, look at some of this year's custom brushes!)

Congrats Brad. I'm sure they're wonderful as your 3band was one of my favorites!

Hoping to see some smaller sizes! 22mm or 24mm possible in the future?

These new 2-bands are really special!  I loved the one he made me last week, so I turned around and had him make another (above) now.

That's awesome.

I like the Cobalt and Briar combo! I never would have thought of that. Outstanding.

Whats the 2-band manchurian hair like gentlemen?  Scritch? Is it closer to Shavemac 2-band or closer to a Simpson type?

Closer to shavemac, IMO

I wish I could afford to include the smaller sizes, but this only the third request this year (that I've heard) for smaller brushes. And given the price of these knots, the maker's MOQ, and finite funding, I need to invest in knots and sizes that are the most popular.

I would largely agree. All things being equal, they're a bit denser that the Shavemac 2-band Silvertip, but with softer tips and slightly more backbone. Saying that, they do take 12 or so latherings before they really come into their own. I try to jumpstart the process by soaking the knots in borax, then shampooing them in a shampoo with a lot of conditioner before setting them. That, of course, takes extra time, but I'll let others speak to the results.
