i plan on testing the Synthetics first versus themselves, then against a good Boar (Semogue 1305), and then a badger. I've already acquired a Semogue 1305 for testing and now I'm torn between two badger brushes to use for the test. Here's my two choices. a Duke 3 in Best or a Semogue OC Cherry Wood 2 Band. I'll be purchasing one or the other then selling them right after the test. Which do you feel would be more representative in tests?

My initial thought for you Dave is to go with the Duke in Best. I don't believe that the synthetics were designed with 2-band in mind. They seem to be trying to perform like silvertip brushes so I'd keep my test closer to that.

* i would have to agree with Brian on this one, but whichever one would be a good test. Good luck.

I could lend you a couple of brushes if you want.

In answer to the question, the Duke 3 in best is the most universally toted brush, so there would be plenty of familiarity with the brush.

That said, Shavemac silvertip is probably indicative of the silvertip brush as a whole.

I think if they are designed with a Silvertip in mind, you should compare them to a Silvertip. Simpsons Best is probably my favorite hair for a shaving brush, but it's a different animal. Just my two cents.
