Received this today...

The razor and its case are impeccable, the outer packaging in almost excellent condition. It's the aluminum version and weighs 33gr. The doors are nickel plated.

A "Patent Pending" model from the early 1950s...

That is gorgeous! I really hope to one day get my hands on a British Aristocrat.

Very nice find.  I was looking at one of the brass/nickel plated versions the last couple of days.  I hear they are fantastic shaves.  The interested thing is that I saw an ad calling the #58 an Aristocrat Junior.  This is one of the most confusing razors I have come across.  Again, very nice find in nice condition.  Congrats.

Thank you!

I had one brass/ nickel plated #58, but sold it to a great member here about 9-10 months ago. They're great shavers, indeed. Comparing to other Gillette razors is not that easy to find them, especially the aluminum one.

The aluminum made Gillette #58 is one of the three Coronation models that Gillette made to honor the Queen Elizabeth of England in 1953. For the next 3-4 years they continued producing them but from a different material, the well-known nickel plated brass.

Beautiful. I have a few (yes, a few) of the nickels, but not the aluminium. A rare catch indeed.
