Mystic Water, owned by Michelle Burns, is a well known maker of artisan soaps, including an extensive line of highly regarded shaving soaps.  On Saturday, August 13, 2016, while on a trip to Ellicott City, Maryland, we decided to travel about 26 miles to a farmer's market in Kensington, Maryland, where I  knew Michelle would be offering her soaps.  The week before the flea market I exchanged emails with Michelle, and she confirmed that she normally brings her entire selection of shaving soaps to the flea market.   I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Michelle,  going through all of her great products,  and acquiring an assortment of her shaving and bath soaps.

Michelle's display at the farmer's market is well stocked with her numerous soaps and related products.  This is what her tables looks like.  The shaving soaps are on the side table that faces left.

Here we see Michelle's large selection of bath soaps.  We purchased an assortment and they are wonderful bath soaps.

Now we move on to the table facing the left, which has all the shaving soaps.  Each one of her extensive line of shaving soaps was available, and I actually checked out each scent.  Her shaving soaps are also offered in shave sticks, and those were also available.

Here is a picture of the artisan herself, along with her husband.

Michelle has an extensive line of scents available in her shaving soaps, and I assume she is often asked which are the most popular.  I make that assumption because she has posted a sign listing her best selling soaps.  If you're one of the many fans of Mystic Water, here you can see where your favorite scents are on the list.  if you've never tried these wonderful shaving soaps, this list is one factor to consider in making your first selections.

I want to thank Michelle for the superb shaving soap she crafts, for supporting TSN by being an official forum artisan, and for the friendliness and hospitality she showed us during our visit.  As an aside, it turns out Michelle spent many years living in Italy and shares my love of artisan pizza.  She recommended a small pizza place near the farmer's market, called Frankly Pizza, that was spectacular.

Awesome thanks for sharing! I would love to be able to see the shop in person and get to meet them.  The local markets in denver have several unique artisans for just about any food and drink you can think of but no solid shave soaps. I wonder if she'd franchise Smile

Thanks so much. I used to live in Maryland, but didn't know about Michelle at the time, and have always wanted to drop by and visit her. She is a master soap maker, and the scents are her soaps are about as good as it gets.

LOL!!  We met in your old stomping grounds, Kav.  San Francisco in the '70's, living on opposite sides of the Panhandle.  What a great time and place to be young...

Very nice photos!

I noticed that the best selling soap is the "Sensitive Skin". I didn't know that these soaps, the unscented, were that popular. I thought that the gentlemen with sensitive skin were the minority, but it now seems like they're the majority. Is it this or many guys don't want to risk it with the FO and EO oils that a soap contains and feel like the unscented soaps are a safer way to try a shaving soap?
