I routinely close my eyes to shave because I am a all feel person for the most part with a straight.  I visualize seeing it and do a better job.  I can't explain it....just works for me.

The optimal shave angle for a straight razor can only be obtained by feel, IMHO. Subtle changes in angle from ineffectively too steep to ineffectively too shallow will look the same in the mirror. I wear progressive glasses, but I shave without glasses. This allows me the ability to not chop off ears and noses, but where the blade meets skin is all accomplished by feel.
