Ok, I admit it, I am on the CRSW bandwagon, HARD.

The shaves and scent of my first purchase, "Bois Floraux," have been game-changers.

I have been considering a Lavender purchase for a long time and I can't decide between Lavender or Savon No. 1

Any suggestions? (I heard that Savon No. 1 is akin to MdC original, but I can't tell if that is a good thing or not, since most people enjoy Fougere.

I am looking for something that has a rich and deep scent, but a little floral for sophistication, if you will, sounds really good to me.

Finally, if there is another Lavender that is EPIC and comes with a splash or balm, even better.

Lavender soaps are ubiquitous, and I'm afraid to plant my feet given that they are a dime a dozen ya know?

Thanks for your time and expertise!

I find Savon No.1 to be a bit less herbal than MDC. It is a fantastic scent and unlike any other lavender-based scents currently available. I say give it a shot.

Savon No. 1 is a lovely scent.  If you're looking for floral sophisrication, I would say go with this instead of the straight lavender, which is a solitary scent.

In terms of a straight lavender, the WSP Formula T and Mike's are excellent, both in terms of scent and performance.  While I have tried a number of CRSW soaps, the lavender is not among them.  I will definitely try the CRSW lavender after I go through  some of the many soaps I currently have.

Interesting thread because I want to try CRSW again and Lavender soap and splash is at the top of the list. Not sure yet though.

I wonder if anyone has tried Savon 1 and MdC? How similar in scent are they? I love the MdC.

They smell 120% different, to my nose. Not even the slightest hint of similarity. This has me very confused about why people compare the two soaps.

Then again, it's possible that my Savon No 1 had spoiled or something. I got it in a trade, a while back, and didn't like it. MdC on the other hand, is the king of all lavenders.

So the original v1 8 oz CRSW Select Lavender is probably the best lavender I've ever tried.  It has some bite, some floral and some peppery notes, but it's all lavender.  Going outside and running your hands across a lavender stalk gives a nearly identical scent.

Alas, the v2 Lavender is not very similar.  It is creamy, vaguely floral, but ultimately pretty "flat" for a lavender.  If you've tried B&M Latha Lavanda, it's pretty darn close to that 40/42 style of lavender.  I'd say that for straight lavenders, you would be better served getting Jabonman or CB lavenders.  They aren't as good as the v1 8 oz Select from CRSW, but they're more multi-faceted to me.

As others have said, the Savon No. 1 is nice, especially if you like the cedar/rosemary combination with your lavender.

I agree.
I own both.
I find they have very few things in common too.

But noses are different. We perceive different things from scents based on genetics, how trained our noses are and how we use our nose to smell a scent.

I find them to have similar scents, meaning I can pick up the lavender and rosemary in each. I think if CRSW ditched the cedar and added peppermint instead they would be closer. Either way Savon No. 1 is one of my all time favorites! Love the earthy, herbal and cedar. Also the more it ages the better it gets. Less camphor and more Savon goodness.

I have Savon 1 and MdC. In a side by side test I think they are both unique in their own right. If your looking for a comparison, and keep in mid what Claus said regarding our own noses, to me Savon 1 smells like Czech and Speak Oxford&Cambridge but slightly less sweet.

Man, I want some CRSW fall scent. All I got for a fall scent is WSP pumpkin spice. Which I do enjoy thoroughly.

In his regular soap base unless Larry has decided to change things or add it to the Oliva base.

Has anyone been able to confirm if Fall is coming out? Have not heard much from CRSW as of late.

I don't think Larry is doing LE seasonals this year.

You are correct. I emailed Larry and he indicated he was not going to be doing any LE's this year. He did say that he was going to be reintroducing some older favorites very soon though he did not go into any detail.

I'm hoping for Spiced Amber.
