Hone has a new model out that is available in black or silver and with an option for a longer (100MM) handle. It is machined aluminum and I'm wondering if anyone has this yet and if so, how do you like it? I own the original brass version and still have it in my rotation. It's a great shaver but on the heavier side. Extremely well balanced and works very well with a Voshkod blade.

They look nice.  Price is better, too, at 65 British pounds for the 85 mm handle and 68 pounds for the 100 mm handle.

I'm a little concerned that they said that "altered the geometry" of the razor because of the lightness of the material to give it "more feel."  What?  I like mild razors and I don't think blade exposure needs to be changed just because a razor is lighter.  Doesn't make any sense to me at all.

The other problem, of course, is that there use to be just one option for a Hone razor and now there are five!  The original in brass, the short version in silver aluminum, the long version in silver aluminum, the short version in black aluminum, and the long version in black aluminum.

Don't know what to do!  I think I'll wait for some reviews to come in.  I actually much more interested in this version than I was in the brass version.  I have plenty of heavy razors already.

When the long-handled version is back in stock I plan on buying it.  I can no longer resist...

I heard from another forum that the new Hone 15A is a little more aggressive then the original brass version. I found the brass Hone to be a decent shaver but very heavy to hold due to its short handle.

I'm a fan of a heavy shaver. I'd love to get the brass one.

I just received the 15a with the 85mm handle.  Two shaves with Wilkinson Sword blades and happy so far.  I tend to find razors in the 85-90mm length and under 100gr weight to be more maneuverable for me.  The 15a will be in "heavy rotation."

My debate was the Hone 15a vs the Rockwell 6s.

Did you ever try the original brass?

Never really considered the original Hone 15 because of the weight and partially the price.  The length and brass materials were positive attributes.  I will also admit to having some interest now in the original Hone.  Someday I need to advance beyond $100 and lightweight razors.

I missed out on the brass version when it was being sold here on our BST. I know the alimunum version is out there but I still want the brass version. I am not an expert but my impression is that they are more durable in the long term.

As far as durability is concerned, I would expect the aluminium and brass to be equals with each other.  The next production run should be done by October 28th.
