Eric (Mer) Maier and I were talking the other day about the possibility of a shaving brush to match the Mergress razor. In order to keep the weight at a reasonable level, Eric would use polished aluminum rather than stainless steel. This is still in a very preliminary stage but, I wanted to gauge interest.  We would likely offer a choice of two band badger and silvertip badger.

Let me know your thoughts.

If you want a brush to match the Mergress, offer a variable loft 3-band like the Moss/Shavemac.

I would pass. Metal handles are for razors, not brushes IMHO.

That design proved too costly/difficult to manufacturer if I recall correctly. Does Bernd still offer a variable loft brush? It was definitely a clever concept.

I recall seeing vintage brushes with aluminum handles on EBAY. They all shared handles oxidized to a light pewter with lots of distressing. I know survivalists have polished soda cans with chocolate to make emergency signal mirrors (waste of good chocolate, carry a dedicated mirror fool). A suitable agent to keep them bright would be needed in instructions.
If the handle duplicated the SS adjustment knob with flutes it would make an attractive companion piece evoking a modernist Art Deco theme. Any
other design would lack direct association.

Yes, that is the tentative plan.

Then it would be shaving's version of the aluminum capped Chrysler building in Manhattan. I like it!

Has Eric patented the MERGRESS name, and has there been any feedback from MERKUR ? It doesn't have to be WIBORG esque Copperpoint script, but a simple
base engraving of your names and no serial numbers. We have so many phenomenal knots available I would reverse direction; a quality knot everyone can accept that wont send this project into Defense Department cost overuns.

I was just talking with my Mergress about this. He asked the brush be proportionate in OA length or it would look like a skinny man with a wife of substance.

I'd buy this. Metal handles are nice on brushes if done right
