G'day Confused

Could someone please confirmed the Polsilver Super Iridium DE blades is at the end of the production will not longer shall be made any more.

Web link:- http://gemstonetrading.co.uk/offer-800-d...k-xl-pack/

Quote:We have been informed that production of the Polsilver Super Iridium DE blades ceased at the Saint Petersburg factory on 1st August 2016. The blades will gradually be phased out in the areas of Eastern Europe where they are currently distributed. We have taken steps to garner reasonable stocks and expect to be able to maintain supplies and prices on our website, at least in the short to medium term. In the long term, it is inevitable that stocks will eventually start to run out.

We do not deal directly with Procter and Gamble in Russia, only their official Eastern European distributors, so we can only guess as to the motives behind the decision. It is likely to be some sort of Corporate 'streamlining', in line with their general policy of gradually phasing out DE blades in lieu of more modern (read more profitable) alternatives.

We do also know that the Polsilvers will eventually be replaced by Gillette Platinum blades in these particular areas, so P and G obviously have no immediate plans to completely abandon distribution of DE blades in East Europe. The Gillette Platinums are very fine blades too, though somewhat more expensive, another possible reason for the change??

I noticed that Polsilvers had been marked up when I was in Pasteur's a couple of days ago. Now $3.49 a tuck. That may give credence to the report.

Don't worry, my last shipment is from few days ago so they are not discontinued, at least up to day.

I just ordered another 100 myself! Given my age and my inventory, I'll never use them, but--you never know...

This might be the fourth or fifth time I have heard of them being discontinued, running back some years.  Seems like the extinction of the Floid Blue news, running on a slow loop.  I've tried a pack or two each time the trumpets blew, and well, meh for me anyway.  If for some reason you can't live without them to the exclusion of many many top rated competitors, get an annuity table and do the math.  Then order just short of the result, so you don't leave any behind.

I tried pols a number of times and for me they just never helped. Might have to revisit them before they go extinct!

If indeed the Polsilvers go away... well, plenty of other ones still remain, and probably a few ones will probably show up in the future.

Relax. Cool

I hear this from time to time. Heck I even heard Arko and Williams will be discontinued.

Good thing they will stick around to stay.

Jeff, you are very well stocked. Cool Nothing better than to be stocked with your favorite out-of-production blade. Are these blades still available somewhere?

Kav, I suppose Bullgoose has the current production ones. I was curious about the Iridium Supers in the picture by Jeff and these are out of production.

Jeff, how does the Iridium Supers compare with current production Polsilvers?

I have a supply of silver/blue packaged SUPER IRIDIUMS. These were never discontinued, merely distribution to the Western Hemisphere suspended. Meanwhile they had undergone repackaging from 10 pack boxes to five and yet another name change back to Polsilver when reintroduced. There have in fact been several incarnations. There was also a run of counterfeit SIs that are simply awfull. People will disagree, but once again  SI/current blue box Polsilvers are the same blade. I have an old online friend in Saint Petersburg married to a lab engineer at the factory. Yasha has shared many insights; some confidential into their status. At present production has been suspended to fill other lucrative contracts. The current BOLZANO thread alludes to better quality since shifting from German to Russian production. It comes down to rubles. You can sell more Prius cars than  Rolls Royces at greater profit. There are NO old stocks of true Super Iridiums  available unless an individual graduates to straight razors or his  soon to be ex wife sells them all on EBAY along with his  restored muscle car. If you want this blade buy a current stock POLSILVER NOW. I would also avoid EBAY sellers from BULGARIA. You will notice all the russian discounters are sold out. ALL of these blades are suspect in  origin ( falling off a truck)? and sadly, Bulgaria has a terrible reputation for mail theft and various frauds online.
