If you compare CRSW V2 with Paolo's new formulation, it's difficult to find fault with either one. Paolo's first formulation was a little on the soft side, and the container was a little small, but these issues have been addressed with the new formulation. I do think that Paolo's balms are the best there are in terms of post shave face feel. It's really hard not to like Paolo's soaps. You need to try one.

I am really stoked to read the comment about the soap V2 being able to take water well. This seems to be a big plus as I usually tend to hydrate lather into oblivion while face lathering.

That is what I was waiting for : )  Excited to place my first SdP order.  Now its just a matter of which scents to go for.

Albera sounds like a no brainer.

I've been using this new formulation for over a week, and now have nearly all scents. The performance of this soap is just amazing, and has now moved to the top of my list of best performing soaps, in addition to having some of my favorite scents. I've said it before, no one makes a better balm than Paolo!

I've tried Paolo's Bosco, and 7 different CRSW scents.  I would label the performance of both soaps comparably good.  Scents, of course, are more subjective and I've tried far more CRSW scents than Sapone Di Paolo.  The Bosco is a lovely scent and I haven't tried a CRSW scent that is similar to it.  I can definitely say, however, that the Bosco is a more subtle scent than any CRSW I've tried.

Can anyone comment on how long the scent lasts after balm is applied?

1st shave today with Albera and I have to say I'm impressed.  Easy to load, easy to lather, great slickness and cushion.  Scent strength was just right too - no problems enjoying this lovely scent while I shaved!

Bosco up on deck tomorrow - can't wait as this one smells lovely too!

I've always enjoyed Paolo's lime and coconut, and recently his sweet orange scented soap, but blue spruce is my newest favorite scent of all soaps (although I'm also enjoying Bosco and Terroso). I also just ordered his clean scent, as it will probably go with nearly any EdT. These are great soaps!

evnpar, have you tried the balms from Queen Charlotte soaps?  if so, can you compare Sapone di Paolo with the Queen Charlotte products?   Anybody else tried both and could do a comparison?

I am curious about the Terroso scent--can anyone that has it describe it?  I am going back and forth between that, Bosco, and Albera.  I'm sure I will eventually end up with all three, but for now I plan on ordering one pair of soap/AS.  Currently leaning toward Albera just because I don't have anything in my den in the "outdoorsy" category, but Terroso sounds appealing as well Smile

Well now that I have used all scents I can say they are all winners.

Even better is the balms are available.

Now I need to finish my Agrume and Bosco so I can reorder in the new recipe!

I found some nearly out of stock original Agrume soap that I grabbed since it's a favorite, and was gifted with some original Cremoso. The latter is supremely nice and gives the Agrume a run for the money. I'm usually not a scent guy, but these are just so nice, and of course they lather great. I will also probably order the new formulation despite the lanolin since I just can't help myself with this soap.

SdP Swet Orange arrived a couple of days early, and after a great shave - I can see why folks are enamored. 4-passes with a slick, dense lather - just north of a thick paste. The scent comes out nicely when face lathering, but even moreso when the matching SdP balm is applied. I'll use this as my soap of the week just to ensure I'm not singing honeymoon praises, but it's pretty darn impressive. I've gotten into the habit of always applying balm at the end of a shave, and it's nice to have found another artisan who has created a product that moisturizes for hours.
