I've been wet shaving for 54 years, starting in 1962 as a sophomore in high school and with a Slim from the local drug store. I loved to watch my father and grandfather shave as a small boy, which is probably why I've always used a puck, a brush, and a DE (or a straight the past three years). I also grew up watching the old movies with many wonderful stars (who Kav probably knew), as well as early magazine ads for shave creams and razors, often with beautiful young women in a "movie star" pose. My avatar is of a famous star, whose name I now forget, and from a billboard for one of her movies. It just reminds me of the era when I watched my father and grandfather shaving.

Well my avatar changes from time to time but right now it's my father and I shaving.

We were at the lake doing some work and figured let's clean up.

My father was a wetshaver that went back to carts and cream some time ago.

I got him back into it a few years ago and he has never looked back.

The picture was taken by my stepmother.

Just a cool moment with dad.

We had just started building lather.

Well, I guess I need to get one. Mine looks like the invisible man. At least he is a clean slate and well-shaven. You gentlemen have challenged me to think through my life and find something of significance to use as one.

Your avatar is Rita Hayworth, who I never met. The poster is from GILDA. My avatar is of course Gomez and Morticia Addams. I loved the show on so many levels that people missed. Gomez and Morticia obviously had a active sex life; never touched in 50*60s TV. The family never displayed any conflict and there was always a scene in the living room of them having fun together.  Their family motto; which I have on my front door in a small brass plate is totally incorrect pig latin which drives linquistic types insane. They miss the point. As an Addams in spirit, you can make fun of EVERYTHING. John Astin and Raoul Julia shared a deep love for the role and both LOVED to have little children call them Gomez in public. Ted Cassidy not only played Lurch but THING. but most of all I had a childhood crush on Morticia that has influenced my choice in women to this day.

^ Wow.

Mine is just a dragon, I just find the photo nice to look at. I used to have a wolf as my avator from a game I used to play when I joined. Witcher 3.

I wish I had a nice photo like Skinny Rogers does but I lost my father before I was old enough to shave.

I do remember him when I smell PAA Clubguy so he must have used Clubman Pinaud at some point. This is why I am fascinated with the scent I suppose.

That's about as good as it gets as far as I'm concerned. My father has long passed, and I'd give anything to show him my gear and have a good shave with him.

I am a fan of ancient Roman history and the Legions.

SPQR stands for Senātus Populusque Rōmānus or The Senate and People of Rome.

Plus I live outside of Cincinnati named after the Roman General Cincinnatus. There is a large statue of him in the park downtown.

I do a fair amount of motorcycling and was taking pictures of my riding partners. Operating the phone camera with one hand I accidentally reversed it and had a nice selfie with the back road and cloudy sky in the frame. Used one of those art filters and removed the saturation. DoneSmile

I cherish these moments.

Cool thing about it is I work for my father.

So we drink coffee every morning and talk about what we used for the mornings shave.

Good times for sure.

My avatar is really me:

I am a septuagenarian native of Papua New Guinea who has not quite entered the 20th century, much less the 21st.

Shaving with an edge-honed clamshell using a polished (for reflection) abalone shell as a mirror keeps me close to my roots.
But I am open to experimentation.

And I loves me my Mystic Water.
