You do have some beautiful Swedish razors that I'm sure are a joy to shave with.

One again. Gave up and got rid of the other two and just starting up again. I am sure that will lead to more.

I have five straights, but only 4 of them are currently "in the rotation."

I should probably look to sell the 5th one.  I haven't used it in months.

I have two right now, but need to get them restored.  One is a near wedge 6/8 wade and butcher which I won't keep.  So i'll go down to one soon and probably keep it there unless I can find a 6/8 torrey.

I just added three...a Tanifuji Spalding, an MK 32, and a Corvette that is made of the Austrian Phoenix Steel.

This brings me back up to nine.

I still regret not jumping on the opportunity. I picked up two Tanifujis and they are excellent razors.

I have 7 straights and never any more. If a new one comes in, one leaves. I find that keeping things minimal allows me to really enjoy what I have. I’m even more minimal when it comes to soap and a/s, hones are where I have a few more but even still, minimal by most standards.

I have one.  A Gold Dollar that was professionally honed by the seller.  I've only used it twice and found the entire exercise to be cumbersome.  I limited my shaving to my cheeks but didn't trust myself on the more difficult portions of my face.  Those two attempts were some time ago and haven't felt motivated to pick up the SR since then.  But I've been thinking about trying again.

It takes a lot more practice that two tries to figure out how to get the job done.  For me, admittedly a slow learner, it was 20+ shaves before I even was able to complete an entire pass.  I think it was the 52nd shave that I was able to get two passes of my entire face and neck completed.

This morning I had my 250th SR shave, though, and I am still enjoying it.

If you decide to try it again, you have to be much more patient.

Most definitely it can be scary and cumbersome the first dozen attempts to be quite honest.  I think it took me two months and maybe 40 shaves or so to become semi-confident.  Now after hundreds and hundreds of shaves I feel it second nature.  Do I still get careless and now over-confident???  You bet.  And when I do the blade reminds me who is king!  I have cut earlobes and my neck a few times being quick and thinking I am now a master.  The trick is slowing down and remembering that straight razor life is a way and not a means.  Enjoy the shave and take your time to make it enjoyable.

Give it another shot my friend and start by doing slowly a one pass then when you get good at one pass progress to a two pass then what I call the end of ends, the three pass.  Then you can do what I was taught which is the Fools Pass!  It actually works quite well and no more dangerous then anything else unless you are one of those people that sneezes violently and quickly out of nowhere then I would forego that technique!

Nothing like quoting oneself, but I just sent funds via PayPal for another straight.  A Swedish one, a CVH.  Never tried Swedish steel before and I couldn't pass up the price.  So now I have SIX straights, not five.  Gotta unload one.
