I have some razors I'd like to get serviced so to speak.
Ideally to get them to be fully functional and near new operation. Also maybe to have them refinished as well. I've mainly scene razor emporium but would like to know all the options available.
My main examples are
1. Gillette fat boy
Works well, some very minor plating loss, and the tto mechanism is getting loose.
2. Gillette slim
Mechanical features of adjustment do not work and playing seems fine.
3. Gillette Sheraton/ senator oben comb
Seriously my favorite and the one needing the most attention. Plating loss to where most of the copper/brass is revealed. And the tto mechanism drops/slides out of the handle. Would love this one to be replated and restored.
Any feedback is appreciated.
 thanks

It looks like they do a good job but do they do normal/factory colors?
Or solid colors?

Delta Echo specialise in Gun-Kote and IMO their revamped razors look AMAZING!

However, depending on your location there are a number of other replating services that use more traditional metals. Given our international membership, where are you located?

Can you describe what makes gun-kote different than normal plating?
I'm in Utah, USA.
Yes they do look good but I prefer the more traditional look of solid colors or close to what they were originally.
Like my Sheraton,senator I believe
Was gold. But any color in that spectrum would look great I think. Such as brass, copper, and or bronze.
That's black chrome is tempting though.

A28,

I just sent off two razors to Chris today.  He is about six weeks behind right now and is only taking two razors per customer at a time to make sure everyone gets a chance to utilize his services.  He is a definite gentleman and does great work at a a reasonable price.

There are a couple of other vendors.  SportShaving.com, Hibco Shaving, and Razoremporium.com all do plating and restorations.  I can't vouch for any of them beyond the pictures I have seen.  I do own a slim adjustable that was replated by Hibco and it looks basically new.

Good to know thanks for the input. I'm Leary of razoremporium. So far it's looking like delta echo razors for me. I really like their look and style so far. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait due to financial constraints the wife informed me( disturbed concert in 2 weeks and then a maroon5 concert in early October).
I will have to check out hibco and sport though also.
Thanks

I understand that.  A couple of good concerts.  I will say the Chris at RazorPlate, like SportShaving does this as a passion and a side business and not his main job.  But, he does give a lot attention to detail and is particular about his work.  I, too, love the retro feel and look of the Delta Echo coatings.  I almost bought one of their razors the other day.  I really like their Cubano color scheme.  Good luck with the refinishing and enjoy the concerts.

Yeah I'm pretty stoked about the disturbed concert. They really are one of three bands I've always enjoyed. I'm a pretty lucky guy as my wife actually did it as a surprise and I only just found out the other day.
It's really neat how many do this as a passion honestly. I've been intrigued myself into thoughts of taking on restoring razors. It seems like a very rewarding hobby.
Yes the color schemes/profiles from delta echo are pretty sweet. I am
Really liking the look of their spartan bronze and antique brass color. There's a fatboy in that coloration I think would look well on my senator.
But definetly considering all options of course.

I've had three of my fathers and grandfather's  razors done at Razor  Emporium  to original years ago and they turned out fantastic.
