I've been wet shaving for about 3 years now and have read about classic soaps (P160 in particular) being discontinued and many reformulated, these happened before I started so I haven't had a chance to try these. There are so many options these days that it's hard to pick a favorite, all of them seems to perform well and there are so many variety when in comes to scent but if you have a favorite soap that is being discontinued, will you be stocking up and how many or will you just look for another alternative? Another question would be for those who have experienced their favorite soap being discontinued, did you stock up (how many) or just move on to something else? My favorite soap at the moment is I Coloniali, it is being discontinued and I have a couple of spare pucks and still thinking about whether I should get a few more. This got me thinking about what other wet shavers do in these situation so what would you guys do?

I used to run out and stock up. But, not anymore. I currently have more than I can use of such a variety. I also realize that me staying stuck in the past might inhibit me from finding something better in the future. So, if I stick with my NOS and never venture into other products, I might be eating a bologna sandwich when I could have lobster.

I have unintentionally stocked up in the past thanks to occasional buying frenzies. There seems to be a pretty significant supply of Tim's Soaps in my den that I purchased before Tim's decision to close shop. Basically, I feel in love with the scents and went a bit crazy.
I agree with the premise that there are so many good soaps stocking up on one product doesn't make a lot of sense to me anymore.

I did this once with Strop Shoppe London Morning when they announced they were going to stop making soap, I bought an additional container. I also did this with Folsom's Shady Past splash.
But I agree with others that there are probably so many other options that I wouldn't do it again.

And then 100 Sandalwood.
And then as many Lemon and Lavender I could scrape up across the Internet?
Maybe.
So that's where all the lemon and lavender ones went!

The high mortality rate in artisan soaps is a consideration if you become loyal to a brand. Others, IE Savonerrie du la Moulin and Brutalt Bra via BULLGOOSE are available through one vendor in North America. Mitchells has been around forevor. How many Mitchell's soapmakers does it take to change a lightbulb?----Change?
Anything can happen from simple reformulations to trade embargos. If you find a 'must have' use up a puck and determine use life. Then confirm
a SHELF LIFE. Nobody wants a box of funky soaps duplicating building blocks for Life on Mars. Then buy enough to insure enjoying it IN ROTATION with other loved soaps for the future.

Damn, someone plans on living until he's 275 years old. lol
I like to use a great deal of soap for each shave, so what I have might only last me 75 years, or so.

Why am I getting a weird vision of you with a puck of soap duct taped to each cheek?
