Please chime in with suggestions for either Badger,  Boar, or Horse knots for restoring vintage brushes.  Buying two vintage Ever Ready's to do my first two restorations with.  Could use some guidance as far as sources.  Thanks in advance!

I prefer shavemac knots but I'm sure a lot of gents are going to recommend envy white knots as well as tgn. Envy whites are supposed to be great for the money and tgn as well. I prefer shavemac simply because Bernd has some of the best knots from how they are made to how they perform. Shavemac lets youorder your knots the way you like them. I have a brush I'm going to order soon , can't wait to see it when it's finished.

Thanks gents.. gonna look into all thee above.  I like the Shavemac knots as well, and the Envy knots.  I am really looking for a place to get respectable quality knots that aren't bank-breakers because I'm going to start doing high-end vintage brush restorations for resale...

Shavemac knots are excellent, but expensive.  TGN knots are reasonably priced, can be very good, but can also be inconsistent.  Bob Quinn of Elite Razor has premium knots which, while more expensive that TGN, are outstanding.  They are available in High Mountain White (3-band) or Mountain White (2-band), bulb or fan, in 24, 26 and 28mm.  These Bob Quinn knots are getting positive reviews.

Not a TGN fan myself.  They are hit and miss with bristles that fall out excessively.  But YMMV.  I quite honestly have had great success from ordering where most if not all knots originate in China.  Unless you build your own or a particular company does.............most all come from there.

I'd go with shavemac for badger.  Bernd's knots are outstanding in terms of quality and consistency and I think it is worth paying a premium for them.  Also, he has 6 different grades of badger.

I have only one experience with a Chinese knot (that I know of); I purchased a custom Omega 49 from a member here with a Mimi's Finest Badger 2 band knot input into the stock handle... PHENOMENAL BRUSH and Knot (purchased form "Mimi's Happy Time" store on eBay)... doesn't shed and feels and lathers amazingly; very little scritch and great backbone set deeply in the handle.
