does anyone else use shea butter after shaving? I do occasionally, though not as often as I should. In fact, I really should use it after each shave since my skin is sensitive and can get dry.

which shea butter do you use? currently I'm using PdP's 100% pure shea butter. I probably use it sparingly since it's expensive. I do like how it leaves my face feeling extremely soft and moisturized.

to use shea butter, this is what I do:

scoop some out of the tin, place in the palm on my one hand, rub both palms together for a few seconds to melt the shea butter, and then apply it on my face/neck area after my shave.

I do use products with Shea butter.Art of Shaving and Crabtree and Evelyn balms have a high percentage of Shea butter,as well as some of the French balms, like Pre de Provence and Loccitane Cade.
For dry skin, Shea butter works wonders, and I do have dry skin,I use a multi purpose lotion that I buy in Whole Foods that has a lot of Shea Butter, but I forgot its name. The ingredients are basically Shea butter and more Shea butter,so its easy to find it,since the others have more ingredients.
If you have dry skin,Jojoba Oil works great too and doesn't leave the skin too "greasy" or shiny.

Andrew, i think the one Randy gets would be an excellent choice. The one i use is made in Vancouver and it would be too expensive to ship to you, i assume. You should PM Randy. Good luck.

So are you gents using this USB in replacement of a standard balm? Are you applying it at random times more like a lotion? A little bit of each?

* Brian, i use it as a "balm". It is actually a skin moisturizer that i had been using for a very long time, but when i started wet-shaving last year, i knew right away that i needed to use it. It is fantastic stuff! Apply a bit after all your post-shave products and you are set for the day. You really don't need aftershave or a balm as this stuff will do it all, except for acting as a cologne. If you need help, contact me or Randy. Cheers.

Hi Randy

Thank you, you are a top banana Number_one

I've contacted them via twitter @sliceofnature to see if they have a walk in shop in the St Louis area. If they don't, I'll order online from them.

Take care, Mike

I've heard back from @sliceofnature, no walk in shop in St Louis (at least at this time).

Just placed an order with Slice of Nature: 4oz East Africa Nilotica Shea Butter for $15.74 (shipping included).

Randy, thanks once again for the heads-up Thumbsup

Jerry, you should give it a try on its own as a moisturizer or balm after your shaves. i can almost guarantee that you will notice a significant difference. Ask Randy.

I think most people get discouraged because of how expensive it is.

I must admit, when I first got my PdP tin of shea butter, I almost jumped out of the window when I saw it was over $20 for under 3oz.

I got a 40% discount on a $16 jar of USB. Shea Nicoletta from Sheaterraorganics. They have coupon specials all of the time.

The Nicoletta is a softer version that makes it easier to spread. The amount used is so miniscule that the initial cost ends up to be worth it in the long run.
