I finally finished my “Blade Bucket List”! I had three vintage blades I wanted to acquire: Gillette “Spoiler”, Personna 74, and Wilkinson Light Brigade. With the arrival of 30 new Light Brigades, I now have all three. Today was my first shave with the Light Brigade. I used my Gillette Slim. You really can’t judge a blade on the first shave, but it was excellent. I am anxious to see how it performs as we go on and how long it will last. I will report back periodically.

I have many different vintage blade models, they're all I use and the Wilkinson Light Brigades are as good as anything I've ever used. They are neck and neck with P74s as the sharpest and smoothest blades ever (for me) lacking only in longevity to that blade that's so famous for that. I still get  at least 10 shaves with one. Sometimes I think they may be ever so slightly smoother than the Personnas. You can't go wrong with them. (YMMV disclaimer)
P.S. May I suggest you add the Gillette Platinum Plus of the 70's to that list. I give them a slight edge over the Spoilers in smoothness.

The Wilkinson packaging is awesome; I am going to have to get a one just to frame or something. Hope you enjoy them! Thumbsup

Five days in with the Light Brigade. All my shaves have been smooth and close. The first immediate impression of these blades is that they are very sharp, sharper than the majority of blades I have tried. I am going to move this blade to my NEW Short Comb for the next wave of shaves.

28 Days!

I am pulling the plug on this “Light Bridage”. I have noticed a little dulling the past couple of shaves, but I still have not had one tug in 28 shaves. All the shaves have been excellent. These blades live up to their reputation! The big negative is that you must to be VERY patient to find them at a reasonable price relative to getting four weeks of shaves from each blade.

Amazing Bob.  How many shaves were you able to get from the Gillette Spoiler and Personna 74?

I routinely get 7 shaves from a Spoiler, but have gotten 10. I have gotten 30 from a Personna 74.

Nice.

I haven't used a Wilkinson Sword blade in a long time. I can't recall why I decided they weren't for me. It may have been because the ones I had weren't so pristine.

I have an unopened card I have been saving. Might give it a go soon.

Spoilers are my favorite DE blades. The Wilkinson came in so many different styles it's somewhat confusing to know what to look for. With all the nicknames too it's even more intimidating to me. As you mentioned, they can be expensive.

Light Brigades are jedi powered amazingness.  Not using them is my biggest complaint about the One Blade

Do you use palm (or other media) stropping to get 28 shaves?  If not, they must have nothing short of amazing metallurgy!

You are quite lucky to find these blades that are still excellent for shaving after so many years.

Nope, just a good rinse after each shave..............and yes, they did have a true winner. Now they are rare and expensive.

For anyone looking to try vintage blades, I highly recommend both Gillette Platinum Plus and Schick Plus Platinum, which tend to be found less expensive than these WS LB blades, and are quite well representative of the golden age of DE blades. Cheers

I just finished using my second "Light Brigade". I got 28 excellent shaves on the first one using three different razors. I just pulled the plug at 30 shaves on this blade, all using my NEW Short Comb. Both blades did start to dull a bit, but all shaves were excellent. I never had a single "tug". All the buzz about these blades is well deserved, IMHO. I can see why they stopped making these.

Light Brigades are the same ones that say "Chromium Edge" just in a different package. For me, they're harder to find than P74s.
