In breaking with our tradition of not discussing bans, we would like to discuss the ban of member Murrellington as a matter of forum health. He had routinely been taking advantage of the friendly prices on our BST and turning around to flip the items for huge profits on EBAY. Please take a look at these EBAY listings and let us know if you were one of his Marks.

I had a charming exchange with him via EBAY's customer quesiton option. Lovely fellow with a snarky oral cavity instead of a brain  until I made reference to his happy wife ( for him getting out of this hobby and the money he's making) sharing his same values and asking why so many men were visiting for 45 minutes while he was at work. If you have an EBAY account, do say hello.
We really need to monitor sales somehow and watch for similar patterns. It's a PITA and there are buyers who are  magpies and not vultures. But after our sex predator this is getting old.

He bought a lot off me on another forum and another member noticed his listing on eBay of it. I wasn't upset but wasn't impressed by it either. I wish I could've had it go to a member who really wanted the soaps and could've taken advantage of the deal and actually used them.

I bought 3 bottles of Floid Blu from him with no issues.

It's unfortunate that he bought items here meant for fellow enthusiasts just to resell.  I know a lot of us could have made more money just selling on Ebay.

Wow! $480 for a Tradere Razor and $275 for a Wolfman HANDLE that would cost only $95 US if purchased directly from James. Good Riddance!

And good luck selling at those prices. Is there anyway  forums, blogs etc be alerted to these people?

The Majority of TSN Members are so above this behavior. I am proud to be part of a Forum that discourages this.

I was, but the transaction was on another forum.  I left the appropriate trade feedback detailing the exchange as I was not pleased.  He sent me a message lamenting that wet shaving as a hobby has become cost prohibitive and he doesn't have the extra income necessary to be involved with it anymore.  And when I say listing in ebay, I don't mean he used the item for a while and decided to sell. It was immediate, i.e. he bought the item with profit as his sole motivation.

Unfortunately, the irony that he himself added to the problem by buying items from members and then marking them up on ebay was completely lost on him.

If a vendor was posing as a member on the BST's and was buying stuff at or below retail and was then selling those items in their store or website for a profit, they would rightfully be banned.  In my opinion, he's doing the same thing.  But instead of a store or website, he does it as "watchandshave" on eBay.

Ed - couldn't have said this better myself. Happy he is out of here.

learn your buyers. That's the lesson I learned from this.

I think the $335 stainless UFO handle takes the cake.

I second this sentiment. The UFO Grand Titan L he's selling for a measly $350 came from me.

When I sell something, I believe the buyer is free to do with it as they choose...the catch is that they actually want the item and are planning to use it first like a normal member would.

I'm not begrudging someone for trying to make a profit. However, the correct way (if there's such a thing) would be to buy it from the source (Rafael) and then resell. When you poach the BSTs for profit, you're simply depriving true members from getting an item they want and would actually use. That's what really pissed me off.

Truly despicable behavior that goes against all proper morals; forums or life in general.
Shame.

Again, are we going to be repeating this a third time or close the damned barn door? ALL online shaving forums, blogs etc need to connect on this issue and monitor excessive purchases.

That would be difficult if not impossible. I would advise buyers and sellers to do their due diligence before agreeing to a transaction. It is also very important to report these matters to a moderator so that we can remove the tumor and stop the problem behavior.

Just substandard behavior. That's not what we're about but some folks just don't get it.

Thanks for tending the forum and removing the weed.

In part that is why the feedback system exists. It's prudent not only to monitor, but also contribute to. Forewarned is forearmed...

Our BST exists to promote traditional wet shaving, not line greedy pockets.
