You may want to try one of the guard blades. The key to using this razor though is to use zero pressure and a relaxed hand.

After a few shaves with the RX I think I'm beginning to get hold of the right angle. Last night I tilted the razor so that the whole area of the top plate was in contact with the face and it just felt amazing. Use no pressure and long strokes is the order of the day.

Spoke with Phil, so hopefully can sort this out, my razor didn't rattle on opening, it only developed after a few weeks. It doesn't rattle when loaded. But for the price I would like a product as described, without fault. Either way good service from Bullgoose and dwelling on this is counter productive. Still haven't lost faith in the razor. Great shaver.

Thoroughly enjoying Feather Pro blades with the razor. If I want an even milder shave similar to an EJ89 but with more presence (being a stiffer than DE) a Kai Pro Touch is a nice blade to use.

Yeah, I don't think mine rattled when I first got it either. Interested to hear Phil's response.

Phil has kindly offered to check the razor and if faulty to replace.

If the blade locks down and you are getting outstanding shaves, it is behaving as designed.

Gents,
In every machining process, there are close tolerances to be adhered to. What that means is there might be an acceptable deviation margin from the absolute which does not have a bearing on the workings of the machined component. In this case I'm guessing that if the blade locks in place without any problem while on some other the un bladed RX does not rattle, then this is the acceptable deviation which does not affect performance. All these acceptable tolerance deviations are due to ambient temperature, who is working the machine, things like that. The acid test is whether the item performs as intended. If it does, leave it alone.
I bought 2 RX's. The first behaves like yours and the second locks without a blade. Both equally magnificent performers and if I was to be given either to shave with a blade inside I wouldn't know which is which.

First shave with RX!

SMN V3
Kai Protouch MG

First shave can't be better! An excellent, smooth and close shave with zero irritation and zero nicks/weepers. Using the Kai Protouch MG blade the razor is smooth and very permissive but gives a very close shave. I think i will love this razor.

Congrats Phil!

You will love it more after a few uses, no doubt on that. I could use it daily and be very happy and satisfied.

Great photo.

Second shave on my RX.

I have the same feelings. I am in love with this razor after only two uses. With the Protouch MG blade it gives me the best shave i remember. My lower neck never been better. I need more shaves but is very probable that the RX will be the best of my razors. Simply superb!

I'm all loaded up and ready for a shave with the Feather ProGuard tomorrow. I have also determined after trying several other handles with the Rx, that the Rocnel lined handle is my favorite. Perfect balance, great look, fits perfectly with the head and it gives the razor a modern upgrade. I will post my thoughts on the ProGuard tomorrow but really excited to try this combo after using Feather Pro's almost exclusively since I got it from the first batch.[Image: 50662f82e7fa0ae76c87faf484052a96.jpg][Image: c3d1c66c64f345d3e016275d2b9c09a1.jpg][Image: 14cd0c763f59d693c8718be601c306f7.jpg]

So I just finished a shave with the Pro Guard blade and I am in love!! Best shave possibly ever and I have tried just about every high end razor DE and SE except the BBS-1. I must try this blade in some other SE's but for me this pair is a perfect match. 2 pass extremely smooth BBS. I used a good smooth Razorock new formula soap and I was in awe at the ease of each pass and the smooth feel of each pass. I new nothing about this blade but I'm a believer!! Can't remember who suggested this but kudos to you!!

I'm surprised to see that these great SE razors are going on sale with 2 or less shaves. Not just this razor, but others as well. I just don't get it. I understand that as with all shaving stuff this is a YMMV thing, but you really can't draw any conclusions so early I believe.
