Gents, I intend to buy a 2 band Shavemac brush and need some help on this.
I currently have a Thater 4125/3 3 band badger...can't remember the knot size but it's very sturdy and muscular brush.
Am thinking of a beehive zebra silvertip D01 2-band with a decent backbone. I prefer bulb shape.Do you guys think there is a better brush available in Shavemac or will this brush be a decent buy? There is no knot size mentioned on the website.
What would you guys choose if you only had to choose ONE Shavemac?
P.S. Bulb shape, sturdy and decent knot of 26mm upwards.

My understanding is that D01 2band has little too much backbone for a 24mm and up.
I have a 26-48 2-band ST (standard) and it works great if you set it low.
Bernd can make 2band ST with a hair density in between the standard ST and the D01. I am waiting for one of those and, if you are interested, I know Geoff Anderson has one bulb shaped

After trying much too many brushes in the past five years of shaving, I have to concede that the Shavemac D-01 2-band knots are, possibly, the best knots I have tried.
I have a 29 x 52mm Bulb in a custom handle that is just superb! Fantastic backbone with scrubby and mildly soft tips. It took a few months to soften, but now, it is just superb.
Of course, YMMV.
Depending on how much backbone you like, you can ask Bernd to accommodate your desire.
If you think your Thater 3-Band is a 'sturdy' brush, then these D-01 2-Band knots might not be appropriate for you.
The Shavemac Silvertip 2-Band knots might be more of what you are looking for as they have extremely soft tips, but with strong backbone.
Good luck.

No problem I would certainly suggest a unique knot, that being density between a standard and a DO1. Unless your willing to spend to ascertain exactly the which DO1 loft suits you. Unique at 26/50 as a fan or 26/54 as a bulb is my ideal range. Will be getting 3 more by Tuesday and re-evaluate again.

I prefer the 2-band Silvertip to the D-01 knots. I prefer very soft tips with moderate backbone, and find the D-01 knots too stiff and scritchy. The 2-band is similar to a Thäter 2-band except you can order them in a lower loft to increase the backbone. I face lather exclusively, and find that they have a good backbone but with soft tips. If you like a lot of scrub, like a stiffer knot, and don't mind quite a bit of scritch until the brush breaks in, then the D-01 knot would be preferable, but if you like very soft tips with moderate backbone, try the 2-band Silvertip.

I think shavemac's best all-round knot is the Finest, when judged in terms of price, quality and performance. I have the Beehive with a Finest knot and it suits me very well. I also have two 3-band silvertips and two 2-band silvertips, which are excellent, but when price is factored in the Finest takes it.

Nishy,
I just watched you videos again, and I have a question. Is this "unique" knot something that can be readily ordered from Bernd? In other words, does he also use the term "unique" knot for the knot you refer to in your video?
Thanks again for posting these videos. They are very informative for anyone shopping for a Shavemac brush.

It is a term I attributed to what I would like, which is a knot with specific density type and feel. If however, you ask Bernd for Avnish's unique group buy knot he will know what your after.
Better yet, wait for Nishy's next group buy, which shouldn't be a long way off since Christmas is coming.

Would one of them be an Emperor-style handle by any chance?

So as of now I don't have anything confirmed having just completed the last.
