Just saw it on Connaught Shaving. Looks interesting.

That's very interesting.

I hope someone chimes in.

I got the email from Connaught as well...I will include some with my next order--unless in the meantime some reviews come out that persuade me otherwise

I also saw these and was wondering if anyone had tried them.  I haven't found a US vendor carrying these yet.

My prior experience with Derby blades make me think that Derby Premium is an oxymoron. I certainly hope they are good. Regular Derby blades don't like me. YMMV.

The name itself gives me pause and regret.

Derby was my first blade years ago.  Although I've moved on to other blades,  a lot of guys like the Derby.  I'm curious about these, because it's not often a new blade hits the market.

I found a domestic source for these and ordered 100.  When they arrive I'll do a thread and send samples to anyone interested.

Ricardo, I'll be watching for your report, and probably arrange to get a few when you're ready.

The original Derby was a no more than 2 shave blade for me, but those were ok. Not great, but better than passable. If the new blade improves on that and holds the price as well as the Connaught site suggests, it would be worth considering.

Last time I've used a Derby bloody extra they left my face feeling hot, red, puffy, sweaty and unbelievably itchy....... Shok [Image: clear.png] I'm hoping the Derby Premium blades will resolved all these issue.

According to my supplier in Australia the new Derby Premium blades should arrived about 2 or 3 weeks from now, so I'll be able to order 15 blades to try it out very soon.

I'm very curious to hear some opinions on these. I don't mind Derbys, they are a fine middle of the road blade. Good in aggressive razors I find.

Just tried the new premiums in my New Long Comb. Excellent blade, much much sharper than the extras and very smooth as well. I'll keep using them for a while more to try and gauge the life span, though blades are all subjective. I say if you are curious, then just give them a shot as they are still very affordable.

I tried it for a week, got 5 shaves with a blade. Sharper than the old one. The shaving characteristic is similar with Astra Superior Stainless blade (Blue pack I mean) in my opinion. I have a light beard and like slightly mild razors.

The description looked interesting with the Tungsten coating mentioned. Isn't that the key to the Personna 74's?

Hmm - sort of agree with the "oxymoron" thought.  Derby is ok, but I've got about 98 remaining of my package of 100 bought last year about this time, so it's going to take some time before I consider buying more - time, and a lot of consistently rave reviews.

These are completely different blades. I couldn't get a single good shave with the Derby extras, but these new Derby premiums are excellent. Very sharp and smooth. Easily In my top 5 DE blades
