I have more than one of these. The head is the same as the much-vaunted #15 Aristocrat, but has a slimmer handle. The winding mechanism on the #45/47 was not as refined as later TTOs though, but the shave is the same. 

I recommend these as alternatives to the more expensive Aristocrats. In my book, they are a very close cousin, closer, say, than the #58 some claim to be an Aristocrat. I'm not of that opinion.

There's plenty of research now on the Gillette Popular.
