Hello everyone!
I've never used or cleaned these two razors, they are part of vintage collection and my two most special items at this moment. I know I will probably regret it some time, but I really want to give another chance to DE razors.

I am looking to trade these two amazing Gillette razors with an unused or slightly used, in perfect condition, BBS-1 or Wolfman OC, stainless steel made, preferably with box.

Please note that this aluminum #58 is as rare as it gets, I've never seen one on sale anywhere, there is no thread on forums, a collector's item, it's a perfect example and it was extremely hard for me to find it. The gold Aristocrat is impeccable, looks brand new.

A few pictures...

Thanks for looking!

Withdrawn.

I changed my mind.

I know there are at least 279 BBS-1, but how many NOS Aluminum Gillette 58s are there?

Thanks for the heads up my friend, but I think you're referring to the same person that traded his razor with a member here a few hours ago... I sent him a message by the way, but...

Probably thousands made. Did anyone save them is the question. Like you say, probably not many NOS A lot of things get thrown out over time and no one was collecting in the early 1950s or very few people. At this point all the times I visited England since the 1960's I wish I had been looking for razors.

That's what I meant Wink

I have yet to see a similar NOS set elsewhere and I think that it's a lot more special than any Wolfman or BBS-1, at least to me. Yes, I want to try one and that's the reason why I offered these two razors. I withdrew them and I'm happy I did that. It was a bad decision to offer them, I'll buy the bike anyway but I wanted to save an amount of money. Like a friend said to me, you can save money anytime, you can't find unicorns that easy.

There were 2 NOS #58 sets that went on ebay just the other day, £230 each. Was also a NOS #21 from the same seller.

Better keeping them.

I received a few offers to sell them yesterday but I'll be out of town this week and I wouldn't be able to ship them anyway.

So, yes, maybe it's better keeping them.

After a few tries to trade my two most valuable razors, I don't know what to say. Even today, I offered these two, plus other razors, plus cash and no result for one more time. You know, I am not into DE razors, I prefer using SE, but I've heard so many good things about this beautiful razor and I really wanted to try it. Even for a few times. If I didn't like it, I would offer it to the community at its retail price. Honestly. If someone put his name on the list, in order to receive the razor and the next day sell it for 700-900-1100$, when its retail price is 300$, then this is ridiculous and highly disappointing. A few years back, I would never expect things would take that turn. If you try to take advantage of your fellow shavers, people that really want to try a razor and not to make money, then I don't know what to say. Basically, I don't want to say what I think about them. This is a hobby of gentlemen and things like this shouldn't happen among gentlemen. I am veeeery disappointed today, I would never expect this type of behaviour, it's not ok to take advantage of people. I'm of the opinion that the maker should have raised the price of these razors, but then again the people that want to try the razor and not to make any money would get punished for no reason.

You're right.

I really don't like that behaviour. Taking advantage of fellows is against my principles.

Personally, I enjoy giving more than selling. In my country, I've given many products to fellow shavers here that I know they would appreciate them more than me. The joy I get when they tell me they have some great shaves with these products is priceless.

Anyway, this won't change I guess anytime soon. Things are going to be the same for a long time. I can't do anything about it. Over and out.

I think the community is starting to slip, to be honest. This behavior is starting to become more and more accepted in some circles. It's a shame really.

The price gauging, the shilling, the limited shenanigans. Sometimes I'm avoiding certain threads and just focus on questions from newbies that I feel I could lend my assistance.

The last thing I'm going to say is that there are BST rules in this community regarding this matter and I'm happy for that.

Of course, no moderator or administrator is able to know what happens behind the scenes when you post a WTB or a WTT thread but I'm sure that everyone can imagine.

Why rail against capitalism?  Two parties agree on a price and a transaction takes place.  If one party does not agree, then there is no transaction.  Artificially, controlling the price of an item typically does not work.  If you want to be a kind soul and not profit from the sale of a product as part of a friendly forum, then kudos to you.

Flipping is the key word. That's why. Among gentlemen that share a hobby, it's just ridiculous behaviour. This is not stock market.

So simple.

And I am into stock market and I know very well how it works.

Capitalism has nothing to do with a hobby.

Come on...
