Any clue what type of brush this is? No other marks on it.  Huh I thought maybe an old Simpson With the 56 on it.

Based on the decal alone I would guess Rooney, but I'll have to dig through my pictures and do some comparisons at a later time.

Thank you for any help.

If you look closely at the green Rooney brush in this picture you will notice the signature decal shape with three points at the top and one at the base:

Compare that to the Simpson decal which features four points on top and bottom:

Of course my methodology isn't proven beyond my own collection and history of collecting, but I've yet to see any brushes that would contradict my understanding.  I will admit that I have never seen the gold on black decal, the inverse being the norm, and of the four major historical British brush manufacturers (Simpson, Rooney, Kent and Culmak) Rooney used model numbers and names the least.  There is a chance this brush was manufactured for another company (perhaps a razor manufacturer to be included in a travel set) which requested the model number and different decal, but there are limitless possibilities and I should probably not speculate too much.  If you purchased it, congrats!
