After several uses of the SE razors that I have, I think it's time to rank them.

  1. Asylum Rx, innovative design, smooth shaver, well balanced, mild razor, shaves great with the Feather Pros
  2. OneBlade, unique razor, for the times that I'm in rush, smooth shaver, very mild razor, even a beginner can appreciate it, shaves great with its Feather blades
  3. Schick Injector, very easy to use it, an excellent vintage option, smooth shaver, mild razor, shaves great with vintage and modern Schick blades
  4. Alumigoose V2, great razor and design, on the aggressive side, shaves great with the Feather Pros
  5. Rocnel SE50, innovative design, very nice razor, heavy, mild to aggressive, shaves great with the Feather Pros
The razors that follow are the: Ever Ready 1912, Mongoose B3, Pal Injecto-matic, Rocnel SE- P, Valet Autostrop VC2.

The top 3 of them are the ones that are currently in my rotation.

I only own two and they are therefore my favourites  Biggrin

Have tried the Oneblade, 2 Mongoose (Mongeese?) and the Cobra.

What remains are these 2:

ATT SE1
ATT SE2

The SE2 is still so new, but it shaves almost like the SE1, only leaving some lather behind, which sometimes gives a more comfortable shave.

I prefer a Feather Professional blade in both. I get 8-10 shaves with one Feather SE blade, before I toss it out.

I've owned several and am now down to three.  Those 3 topping my list.  The el jefe jumped the Mongoose this week.  I just had my 7th shave with it just a few minutes ago.  The RX is just a smidge ahead of my #2 and 3.  If the RX didn't cover the ends of the blade as much as they do it would be a landslide.

1) RX
2) el jefe
3) Mongoose (batch one)
4) King Cobra
5) Cobra
6) ATT SE1
7) Oneblade
8) Hawk

1. Asylum Rx
2. Colonial Razors' The General
3. ATT SE-1
4. AlumiGoose 2
5. Gem MMOC

I've never tried the Mongoose 1, found the AlumiGoose 1 way too aggressive, and the OneBlade was too mild for my coarse beard.
I should be getting an iKon El Jefe tomorrow, and an Ever Ready Streamline by Saturday; so the lineup might soon change.

I've owned Claymore, Mongoose, King Cobra, El Jefe, Alumigoose, OneBlade, Schick hydromagic injector and now am waiting for a Hawk (should be delivered in a few days). So far, Alumigoose works the best for me. Mongoose is uncomfortably heavy, OneBlade is too mild, Claymore is unattractive and overly aggressive, El Jefe needs a better blade alignment but holds a great potential and Cobra didn't agree with my face, period. As a result, a nimble Alumigoose was my choice up to now. Schick (BTW, acquired from Nikos, many thanks here!) is a notch below Alumigoose, IMHO.

That's the AlumGoose 2 you're referring to, isn't it?  The AlumiGoose 1 is wickedly aggressive IMO.

Dear Roy, Yes, this is Alumigoose v2. I never got a chance to test v1.

  2. GEM Micromatic Clug Pruf
  3. GEM 1912 SE and/or Ever-Ready 1914
I love the fact that new SE razors are coming out these days - if nothing else it puts more of the vintage ones on the marked since people have to make room in their rotations Tongue

For me:
1. One Blade V1 ( I have a 2.0 but haven't opened it yet. Do not know if I will keep it)
2. Asylum Rx close to One Blade but I really like the Pivoting head
3. ATT SE Lags a bit behined number 2 It can be a bit aggressive .Has been known to bite and leave razor burn if not careful. If razor is used with care and attention not much difference from the Rx. But care must be used less with the RX and far less than the OB

In no particular order:

Cobra Classic
Asylum Rx
ATT SE2
Schick E2 injector
PAL Adjustable injector
Ernst Scharff Rapide*
C. V. Heljestrand*
Ever-Ready Improved 1912
Ever-Ready 1914
Ever-Ready 1924

* loaded with a properly honed and stropped hollow ground wedge blade.

Yeah, that's more than 5. Too bad, I'm not going to narrow it down any further. Actually, I can think of another half dozen or so that really deserve to be included.

5) Razorock Hawk

The General and Hawk are the only modern SEs I've tried.  I'm also borrowing a Streamline, but the first shave with it this morning left weepers galore on my neck.  I've tried E and G-type injectors and both were not as smooth as anything in my top 5.  But I only used Chinese Schicks with the injectors.  Perhaps there's a better blade I need to try.

These are the types of threads I should avoid because it really gets me thinking about buying some new hardware!

1. El Jefe
2. ATT SE1
3. Ever Ready Streamline
4. Gem Featherweight
5. Gem Jr. Parade handle

Honorable mention: Ever Ready 1914

The Cobra/King Cobra always seemed to nip me and even though the Mongoose was my daily driver for over a year, it never glided well for me (unlike the SE1 and El Jefe). I have yet to try the Rx, General and Rocnel SE50 (really hoping the Rocnel becomes easier to purchase), nor have much injector experience.

I see several posts of the GEM Damaskene.  I have an Open Comb Damaskene.

These lists have prompted me to give it a go.  I haven't used it in years.  Maybe I'm missing out on a great shave. Sbathroom_grooming_shaving_100-100
