Derby Extra blades are an enigma.  Many users rate them among the worst, yet many users report getting good results from them.  Derby recently introduced the Derby Premium, which I take is supposed to be an upgrade from the Derby Extra.

I enjoy trying different blades.  Over the years I have tried about 35 different blades.  It's not often that a new blade comes to the market, so i decided to try the new Derby Premium. Both the Derby Extra and Derby Premium claim to have  "Chromium-Ceramic-Platinum-Tungsten-Polymer Coated Edges."  However, the Derby Premium claims to use Swedish steel. There is a recent thread here discussing the new blade and it seems to be getting good reviews.

I don't want to start a new thread on these blades.  Any reviews on the blades should continue to be posted on the existing thread.  However, I do want to make an offer to TSN members who want to try these new blades.  I purchased 100 of the blades, which is more than I need to test them myself.  If any of you with a CONUS/APO/FPO/Canada address want to try these blades, just send me a pm with your name and address.  I'll send you five of the blades to try.  After you try them, if you have a chance, post your thoughts on the already existing thread linked above.

Stainless, it was not my intent to offend any of our Canadian neighbors.  If I take the blades out of their little plastic box, I can mail 3-5 of them in an envelope with just a regular .47 postage stamp.  The cost of sending them abroad would be higher, and the postage would exceed the value of the blades.  I checked postage rates and I can send these to Canada for .85 in postage .   Therefore, I'll open this offer to Canadian addresses as well.  Please pm me your name and address.

When I DE shaved, I disliked the Derby blades quite a bit.

I never shaved with one, after I tried a 5 pack of them in 2011.

If I still DE shaved, I would consider trying these new Derby blades.

I like it, when a company or a person shows an interest in improving their product.
I like to support that.

In fact I think I'll buy a 5 pack just to show my support, and then give it away to a happy DE shaver  Biggrin

Very generous of you.

I tried derbys when I began DE shaving, but quickly discovered that I need an aggressive razor with a sharp blade - and thus derbys aren't for me.

The Canadians have decided to do their own after their immigration website crashed, but we digress.

Hmm thought the wall times were over, but maybe it's easiest to copy the Berlin Wall? Greetings from Germany and hope for peace for everyone Smile

Gentlemen, 14 of you participated in this offer and all the blades went out today.  Other than one envelope going to Canada, all of you should receive your blades this week.  If any of you don't get the blades, let me know.  Remember, if you have a chance, post your thoughts on the blades in the thread "Derby Premium?"  Thanks.

Yesterday I received an order of shaving soap from Connaught in UK.
Fortunately, Paul included a complimentary 5 blade package of Derby Premium blades, and this morning I used one for the first time.
Loaded in the Gillette Rocket HD500 razor, the shave was excellent. Very smooth. No nicks or cuts, of course.
I'll stay with this razor/blade combo for the next several shaves so I can see how well the edge holds up over time.
I generally change my DE blades every week, if the edge lasts that long.
This might be a strong contender for me, depending on longetivity of the edge.
I have no hesitation to recommend this blade, hopefully others will experience the same high quality of shave as I did.
