I ordered a tub of the new Baskerville soap from Phoenix and Beau.  It arrived today.  I am quite disappointed in the presentation (if I dare call it that)

However, I bought it to shave with, not look at.  Tomorrow morning I'll see how it performs.

It'll smooth out after a few shaves.

A lot of soaps look like that when new, Striling, Reef point, I Coloniali mango....

If it bothers you, you can usually just moosh it down smoother.

Looks normal to me. I imagine the makers are filling by weight and some settle more evenly.

I was bothered by it, just noticed it.  Most soaps are smooth on top.

Anyway, I shaved with it this morning.  And I like it.  I'm not making a review, but it was quite slick and there is something creamier about the lather that I found nicely agreeable.  It'll take several more shaves to form solid impressions.

I agree with your observations on the performance Max. Slick, creamy and can handle a good amount of water.

How was the scent? Can you describe it or compare it to another soap?

What's the problem? Perhaps a fancier label would be preferable, but it looks fine.

Chiseled Face is funny looking for the first few shaves then it smooths out. I guess the various soap makers could find a way to settle it after the hot pour (vibrate, shake).
