Recently I posted here on B/S/T about getting a GEM 1912 with the ornate chain-link handle.
Nook member MaxP kindly responded, and I chose one in trade from him that was a fixer-upper: heavily tarnished.

I did what I could with it, but it needed professional polishing.
I happened to come into a little money...exactly enough to cover the job at a small shop right near my office, in the Diamond District on 47th Street.

It turned out as nicely as could be hoped -- not shiny all over, but pretty darn bright, with "character."

Before, during, and after photos to come.

I shaved with it for the first time today, and it did a very nice job.
I love my Featherweight -- also acquired here on the Nook in a very agreeable deal -- and the 1912 too.

How wonderful - it's always nice when an old razor is put back in rotation Smile

Starting point (apologies for the fuzziness of the BlackBerry camera images):

I'm curious; what did you use to clean the tarnish? I got a couple of non-razor items that could do with a bit of TLC.

Please do note that the midpoint photo represents my efforts!

I started with Flitz. I also used -- based on an online tip I read -- ketchup. Smile

Seems like Flitz is not for sale over here, but similar products are. Thank you Smile
