I've been on a strange TV watching kick lately - bad 80's TV shows!

Thanks to Netflix streaming, I've been watching 'The A-Team' (bad), 'Knight Rider' (decent), 'MacGyver' (bad), and even 'Air-Wolf' (really bad).

I still have to look for 'Miami Vice' and a couple of other shows.

It's amazing watching them - I found them so cool and exciting when I was a kid, and now I watch and shake my head at the 'daytime soap' acting and the bad plots. Biggrin

Does anyone remember these shows? Do you have a weakness for these bad 80's shows?

I was watching Magnum P.I. with my son and he asked "why doesn't he use his cell phone?"

In addition to MacGyver and Magnum P.I., I used to watch Cheers (espcially good since Ted Danson had been my college roommate), Mystery Science Theater, and Quantum Leap. All dated now, but I liked them at the time.

I was born in 85', but loved shows like Charles in charge, Growing pains, Who's the boss, etc. Great stuff!

I never really got into Cheers when I was younger, but my wife and I have taken it up recently. It's pretty good, really. I've always liked Ted Danson - liked him in the little I saw of 'Becker'.

I'm old enough to remember when television really was "live" and what you saw is what you got. Much, if not most, of American television from the 80s on has truly been a wasteland.

I know, Johnny, and of course every generation goes through it. It's just our turn now. Rolleyes

That is one big reason I won't watch commercial television. The other is the proliferation of commercials. Try watching a half hour of news on your local station, either national (CBS, NBC, or ABC) or local news affiliates. There are way more commercials than news.

Very cool John. How was Ted before the tv success? I remember watching Cheers all the time with my big brother. Loved the show. Was very sad when Coach passed away.

What about all the '80s game shows, which the main ones are still going strong. Things like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Pyramid, Family Feud etc.

I worked in TV for the better part of 16 years. I haven't watched live TV since 2010. Still not interested.

What? No Streethawk?

I read on twitter today that they're rebooting ALF as well. My question is "WHERE'S THE REBOOT OF SMALL WONDER?!"

I also feel like every time I open a newspaper there are more advertisements than actual news.
