Does anyone here have any experience with a Brennan B2 All in one device? It looks like a great way to store and play music but I really have not heard all that much about it. Are there any down sides that I should be aware of? I am thinking of getting one for the packing area in my shop.

I hadn't heard of it before, but the reviews online are overall pretty good. I like the fact that it can rip CDs as lossless FLAC-files - most devices of this type rips to a rather lossy MP3, so the fact that it uses FLAC indicates it's a serious device.

As an aside, we haven't had terrestrial AM since the mid 90's, and next year they are closing down the FM band too... from now on it's DAB+, and I have to buy a new alarm clock with radio  Dodgy

Thanks Hans. I really need something in the back room of the shop while I am packing orders and think I may pull the trigger on this.

I listen to terrestrial AM and FM every day in the house and in the car.  I hope they don't do away with either here.  What's DAB+?

But, back on track, what is Brennan B2?

Sidetracking the thread, but.. DAB+ is Digital Audio Broadcasting using the the HE-AAC v2 audio codec with MPEG Surround audio format and stronger error correction coding in the form of Reed-Solomon coding.

Short version? It's radio with a digital signal, meaning you in theory gets better sound and more channels on a given bandwidth. THey have been transmitting for a few years now, and downstairs I tend to tune into one of the more specialised DAB-channels (either the 24 hours news or one of the 24 hours music channels), but my bedside alarm is well over 20 years old and don't have the receiver for DAB.

As for the Brennan B2, think of it as a TiVo for your music Tongue
