Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone saw this announcement by Aldo on The Varlet website:

ALPINE GRADE

Similar to The Varlet's highly acclaimed Finest Grade badger but with additional sorting steps that take place during the knot's crafting. This extensive process is done in The Varlet's shop after the knot has been shaped yielding exceptional results and allowing for only the most desirable tips to remain at the top of the brush.

The Varlet offers a limited pilot knot program to gain feedback from the shaving community. Knots can be purchased by going to the Knots page.

A 28mm and 26mm knot, both in fan shape, were offered and I managed to get a 26mm size for myself. Curious to see how these knots stack up to other similar two band offerings.

-Jesse

I saw his original tweet 4 hours after he posted it. I checked into his store at that point and the 26mm knots still showed in stock. I slept on it and finally decided to purchase in the morning; luckily the 26mm knots were still in stock.

That's great.

Expensive for a knot, but great to see he's still at it and ever improving.

Missed the boat on this, though truth be told another American hand-tied knot (Declaration) has seriously impressed me. Always great to see more choices!

Same here I had no idea. Was a newsletter sent regarding this? because I didn't receive one and usually I do
Guess Aldo is not posting his updates on TSN anymore?!

Well, hope you gents like it. I have no doubt it's another marvelous creation by TV. I own a Beehive and Ranger and they are absolutely phenomenal. Excellent sorted knots with beautiful face feel

Very nice. Thanks for posting. Interesting handle too! Is this the new Ranger handle??

If you had the chance to use it I am wondering how is this hair different from the Finest hair Aldo utilizes in his current brushes?

Honestly I think this should be a common practice , nothing is more frustrating that purchasing a high end knot and finding those thick blunt tipped scratchy hairs mixed throughout the knot.

I was lucky enough to spot Aldo's Tweet and was able to get a 28mm Alpine Fan knot. When purchasing the knot, I mentioned still being on the List for a Ranger. Aldo offered to design a Ranger to fit the monster knot. Here are his pictures of the finished "Mega Ranger" handle.
