[attachment=4757][attachment=4758]This is my first Thater. A 4125/2 fan. I really enjoy the Rooney XL series and I heard these were quite similar. Well built and am very impressed. Not as gel like as the Heritage chubbies but this size 2 releases tons of lather. I like to squeeze out the lather for the third pass, as I find this to be a real treat, and the Thater really delivers. I hear the bulb is quite nice as well. I prefer softer brushes if shaving frequently and the Rooney Finests or Simpson Manchurians if I skip a day or two for some scritch.

For size purposes here it is flanked by a 2XL & CH2 Best.

Thäter 2 Band is as good as it gets... Density, backbone, softness make them a benchmark... I got three ... But prefer bulb over fan... YMMV...

Teiste, gel like in it's softness and cloud like feeling on the face if that makes sense. The XL's seem to hold on to the lather a bit more and splay less than the Thater's. Yes German thinking of getting the bulb too as you have. Impressive brushes all around!

Agree 100% with this post! I too prefer bulb for some added backbone.

Max, great brushes! i have the Rooney Heritage Stubby 1XL and i have to agree with you on the "gel-like" feel of those bristles when they are wet! Wow, what a soft brush. Enjoy the Thater.

I've got a 4125/1 that is labeled as a bulb, but is mostly a hybrid fulby kind of knot that is just great! It is a black handled version and I love it. I have been pining for the 2 band fan in a 49125 plexi handle for some time now.

The Thater 4125/3 and the Rooney Heritage 3XL are the top 2-band brushes in my collection. I like the Rooney better because I prefer the fan shaped knot to the bulb, but I don't want to sell the Thater short - it is an excellent and luxurious brush. If I had to do it over again - and I might do it over again - I would choose the Thater with a fan-shaped knot.

Yeah, Bob knows I have a 4125/3 on it's way. Like a teenage crush, love hit me hard. My father was born in Somerset so Simpsons then & now are in my blood but nothing lathers as well as the Rooney Heritage brushes & now these newish Thater 2 bands IMO. I'm with Bob, although we may be in the minority, prefering the fan over the bulb even in the large sizes.
