To lure me into the next badger brush! I've been liking the way Claus writes about the qualities of the two-band Thäters he likes so much, so when Phil sent the email about the 10% reduction on the price of just this particular brush I jumped! One in 24mm, ivory and fan shape will soon arrive and we'll see if my likes are as close to Claus' as I think they are.

I can hear Helen, already, "ANOTHER BRUSH"?

A lot of folks are talking highly of the Thater two bands , I personally have never owned a two band but the three band I had was top quality. I'm sure the brush you ordered will be a tremendous performer.

Congrats on your new brush!

Thaters are top of the food chain for me for the off the shelf brushes.

I hope you love yours as much as I do mine!

Please let us know what you think when it arrives.

I have been hearing more and more than the Thater 2 bands are less likely to gel tip which intrigues me. The 3 band I tried years ago was very soft, dense enough for me without flop, but the 2 band model I tried was crap. It had no density combined with a 25/26mm knot that felt way too big and made very flimsy lather. That brush itself was also very scritchy, even for a two band. That brush was simply a dud model and didn't turn me away from the brand.

But if you guys were to recommend me a brush, if I had to choose between a 24mm, would you go for the 3 band bulb or the 2 band fan? Plus, is the 2 band Super consider a higher grade because that seems to be more expensive.

Thanks you gentleman and happy holidays!

I can tell you that in this case patience pays off. I went with the 4125/0 bcs I prefer smaller knots but was not impressed initially the way I was w some other high end selections.

I received advice to give it time & early on to load more product -- sure enough, eureka!! I'm sure you'll love your new brush. And if at first ur not blown away, like me, give it time & add more soap - u will be rewarded in time!!

Thanks, gents! The likelihood of me loading too lightly is remote. I had it thoroughly drilled into me me to load until you think you've overdone it and then load some more. It has proved to be good advice as I have no trouble making great face lathers with any of my brushes and soaps.

Good job, Phil, in getting the brush out on the day ordered; Christmas Eve, no less! Looking forward to it!

Hope you will love the brush.
Unless you prefer VERY dense brushes, the likelihood you'll enjoy the Thäter 2-band is big.
Please share your experience with us, once it arrives and you can get a chance to test it !

Lather release is more important to me than density, and the release from this brush should be good if I am inferring correctly from what I've read. Soft tips, lack of scritch and good release are my goals for this brush.

I had overlooked Thaters for years and I now regret it.  I have two two band Thaters and they are as good (and better in most cases) than my 26 other brushes which are all highly reviewed.

I'm sure you are correct on this, Johnny. The brush arrived several days ago and I immediately did three consecutive palm lathers and subsequent drying, then lathered for the first shave with Cella (my least favorite soap in current rotation) and shaved away. The resultant shave with my AS-D2 and Gillette Stainless blade, two passes (WTG & ATG + touch-ups) was exactly as expected; BBS- and very comfortable.

Through all of this, the Thäter surrendered its lather willingly after making gobs of it, and was a pleasure to use with its wonderfully soft tips and "just right" backbone. Nice splaying, proportional to pressure, completed its maiden voyage with great satisfaction. Even the handle's size, design and weighting was a pleasure to use as my small hand is better suited by such a handle. Oh yes, and nary a hair lost, so far.

Satisfied? You bet! Unless something unforeseen happens in the next several shaves, I'm surel to be proclaiming a new Favorite Brush. All hail the Thäter 4125 in 24mm, fan, two-band super hair!

They are great brushes.  I have two of them in that size and shape.  One white, one black.
