There are so many other bad ideas I'd sooner try; like kiss an angry badger or floss with barb wire. 24

I did this year.  The total is $300.00 give or take a few bucks.  I was doing good until I received the VintageScent news letter and saw the Semogue 2016 Foro Afeitado Limited Edition brush  Facepalm and a Semogue 2013 SE (Olivewood) here Facepalm.

If not for these two guys I would have been good.  Although we have a couple of days left in 2016, I can safely say that I did not order any soaps or creams or AS this year which is amazing.  I used what I had and enjoyed all.

Unless another Semogue SE/LE comes along, I plan to stick with the current soap collection although I would like to add a Rose scent.

I generally sell my stuff to fill my PP account then it's relatively guilt free. At least that's what I tell myself.  Biggrin

OK, I'll be one of the few mavericks and say YES, I've been keeping track the past couple of years.  Just trying to keep it real.  In the past, I've been a collector of things from various hobbies, but I've changed my tune.    Been trying real hard to downsize a lot of my stuff with the help of the big auction site.  Shaving wise, I am mainly trying to prove to myself that in principle, it's possible to save money with regard to consumables.  This year, I have spent about $65 on consumables.  Last year, it was over twice that.  The year is not over yet, as there may be a trip to Pasteur's in the near future.  I don't refrain from buying anything I really want.  Keeping track helps keep it from getting stupid.

You gentlemen crack me up. I have a thick bag full of shave order slips from various vendors over the years. That doesn't include the numerous trades and buying from fellow members but it's full of all the goodies that I have tried.

I have a rough total of razors and brushes and stopped after adding those up, I was amazed to say the least.

Ball park figure for last 8 months would be approx 5k USD. This would include my fragrance collection apart from my shaving stuff.

Not a chance. I agree with Ricardo that this is a hobby. For the most part, hobbies cost money. Great shaves is just a bonus.

Comparing to others not that much... The only expensive shavings I have are most of my razors and a few other products. I was never a fan of expensive badger brushes, for example.

One should never kiss and tell, but my accountant demanded I insure my purchases from 2016. It was well into the 5 figure neighborhood.
