Without having tried all the blades, nor having kept much notes on the ones I have used, I can agree that Feathers have to be near the top of the list Smile

I would agree with that list but would replace the Yellows with Silver Blues.

Of the ones I've tried:

1. Feather
2. Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge
3. Nacet

I'd rate the Feather a perfect 10/10 in sharpness, the SharpEdge maybe a 9.8, and the Nacet a 9. 'm not sure why sharp blades have a reputation for being dangerous. For me, a sharper blade is a better blade, and it's also less likely to nick me or give me irritation.

I think most people will agree that feather blades are the sharpest of sharp.

With a fresh blade its buttery smooth, it feels like there is almost nothing there.  I have yet to find anything even close.

I have heard people say that Kia is pretty close but in my experience I don't think so.

There is a running joke about how the only blade almost as sharp as a feather is a used feather.

I pair up blades to razors (I shave 7 days a week) For a daily BBS I can't use a feather in a med aggressive razor on a daily bases leaves to much irritation, beard hairs are to short for the aggressiveness of the Feather in med aggressive razors.

Feather very mild razor
Polsilver mild to med aggressive razors (this is what I shave with most of the time)
Voskhod aggressive razors

For the entire year of 2016, I have been alternating between Feather blades and KAI blades.  (“Kia” is a brand of Korean automobiles; “KAI” is a brand of Japanese cutting instruments).  I have used each blade until it told me that it was time to change, then switched to the other brand until that blade told me that it was time to change.

Strictly as to sharpness, based on about 350 shaves in 2016, I can discern no difference between the two brands of blade; each is as sharp as the other.  As to durability, the KAI blades have the edge:  I get one or two more shaves per blade from a KAI than from a Feather.  As to compatibility, the KAI blades are pretty much the same in any DE razor I have tried, but the Feather blades definitely need much more underside (baseplate) support than KAI blades do; due to judder along the cutting edge, shaving with a Feather blade in a razor the baseplate of which droops down and away from the leading edge of the blade is a much less pleasant experience than shaving with a KAI blade in the same razor.

Gillettes yellows and Gillette SharpEdges are one in the same. The blades that come in the yellow packaging are called "SharpEdge."

Agreed, especially in terms of comfort and durability. I find the Kai almost as sharp, but more comfortable right from the first shave to the last. The Feather (on my face) takes one shave before its of similar comfort and lasts a shave or two less than the Kai.

^^^ this +100

I'd only add that because I shave with an aggressive razor - I generally use a less-sharp, but smoother blade (GSB). Still, I love pulling out KAI blades every so often.
