The 6th edition of my introductory guide to DE wetshaving is now available at Amazon.com as a paperback book and as a Kindle edition. The book is about 1/3 larger. Price is the same except Kindle edition is now $7.99 instead of $8.99 as before. Normally Amazon's algorithms will discount the list price, but that hasn't kicked in yet. In Europe, I believe the Kindle edition is already available and the book edition should be available within a week.

Reader reviews have been trimmed from 60 to 19, but apparently they simply cut all reviews prior to the 5th edition, which makes sense.

Amazon.ca is still offering the 5th edition, with no mention of the 6th edition. I have contacted them and they will get back to me in a week. In the meantime, Canadians can get the 6th edition via Kindle, and I imagine that Amazon.ca will soon offer the 6th edition as a book. On the other Amazons, the 5th edition is available only as used copies.

The target is again the beginner, and I anticipate the reader will often have received the book as a gift from someone who knew he hated shaving and wanted to expand his horizons. Thus the first chapters are persuasive, to convince a reader who may not have considered it before to give DE wetshaving a try. Then the book takes him through the process step by step.

I'll be interested in the thoughts of those who read this new version. I broadened my approach somewhat, as you'll see.

Will the new edition be available at the European Amazons (paperback versions)?

This book also got me started when my Dad gave me a copy and a large starter kit. It was one of the first editions so I think I'm going to purchase the 6th edition because I'm sure so much has changed.

@oversaturn: Yes, the European Amazons should have them within a week or so. I believe the Kindle version is already available, but I personally prefer the book format myself. So check your local Amazon in a week.

@Dave: I'll be interested in your thoughts.

is it possible to buy 2 Kindle copies of the book so I can give one away on the forums here or would I need to buy 1 Kindle and then a physical copy for gifting purposes?

I don't think you can give kindle books as a gift, unless they have changed things recently. But it looks like the lending is enabled so you can borrow it out to someone who has a kindle.

BTW Michael, I added the link to both your book and blog on my site as well!!! It's under BOTH Shaving Help and Vendors For Shave Supplies.

I just got shipping confirmation on Amazon. It will be my first copy and I'm looking forward to it. Maybe Michael will sign it for me when I'm down in Monterey.

Sorry I've been absent: moving. I've moved and still unpacking and settling, but enough is in place to visit again.

@Dave: You can give Kindle books as a gift. I've received one. I'm not sure of how it's done, but it's doable.

@Krissy: Thanks for the plug. BTW, I saved out a Prairie Creations tallow & lanolin shaving soap (Spiced Rum) and have used it the past couple of days. What a great lather!

@guildx500: I'd be happy to sign it. Email me or PM me and we can set up a meet. However, I'm on a trip for the next 3 weeks.

BTW, the new Kindle conversion is complete and will be available for purchase within 12 hours. In this conversion, the links to the Web are active. Those who bought the previous 6th edition for Kindle will be notified of the new version, and they can download it at no cost.
