As I understand it, Boots brushes were (sometimes) made by Rooney. Check out the beautiful ergonomic handle of this No.7, and also the distinctive, original red box, typical of Rooneys. The handle is reminiscent of the Simpson Keyhole.

The lamp black still very good, but the decal, while all there, is a little 'lumpy' Smile. See the original price on the back of the box: £3.79p. The 'p' indicates that the brush is no earlier than 1971, not that I thought it would be. Boots No.7 is a range of products that have been popular since 1935. I think this was also part of the No.7 range, but I'd say this brush is 1980s. Unsure.

The 'fan' knot is 22mm and the loft 50mm. The handle is 57mm high and 39mm at base. Brush weighs a respectable 87g. The tips are soft as you'd expect, and the ratio of knot to loft works very well. I expected it to be a bit floppy, but it isn't.

It looks so soft and the handle seems comfy to hold as well. Enjoy it and if you decide to pass it along, give me a message.

What are you going to use it with first?

Yes, it's a rather large brush actually.

What soaps? Choices, choices... maybe a vintage Floris Rose geranium?
