Over the Christmas Holiday I took some time off from making shaving brushes. ......Or did I...?
I went to use my favorite Semogue boar brush and pondered over the worn knot's middle and the split knot ring. The handle was worn with scuffs, small chips and scratches... Hmmmm, how much life is left in this old girl? Is it worth re-handling?
Well, it's my favorite boar and was one of my first Semogue brushes I had bought years ago.
It's been a steady user ever since, soft with just the right amount of backbone and nicely split hairs. It's a proven performer and has provided many great shaves.
There wasn't much I could do about the knot, other than replace it, which was out of the question. And like I said, it's a favorite. But hey, I can remove the old knot and certainly give it a nice new DK custom handle.
I had cast some Jade material over the summer and set it aside because I wanted to make some more with some brown streaking running through it before offering it up to the shaving public for use in my custom handles.
I had a day with nothing to do between Christmas and New Years, so I fired up the lathe and turned an old shape that I believe fits this old time boar nicely, she deserves it...
The old knot...

The handle is faux jade in my "Pawn" shape. I also added some bullseye rings to the bottom.

I think this one is now semi-retired and reserved for those special occasion shaves.....

Hi folks as promised I have a very nice Soldier handle with an Omega Pro 49 Boar knot for sale. $112 includes PayPal charges and shipping to the USA. Please note: This knot is not glued in and could be substituted with your choice of knot and loft if so desired.
I am offering up this beautiful boar brush to the Shave Nook Community before putting it up on my website for the general public to purchase.
Please PM if interested...
The Soldier handle is made of faux ivory with grain upper section and a lower section of my own new peanut-butter cup resin.
The handle is 49mm tall.
Shown in the photos with an Omega Pro 49 Boar knot set at 26x58mm loft. The loft could be adjusted if so desired, although I believe this to be optimal once the knot is broken in.
