So I'm a little curious and would like to try one of these. If I went with a two band Manchurian white in a 24mm fan, what loft would you guys recommend for face lathering?

46 to 48mm.  If you go to a diameter:loft ratio of more than 1:2 with a fan, you may not get as much backbone as you want.

All 3 of my Elite brushes are set at 50mm. The Manchurian White still has plenty of backbone. As always, YMMV. The 2:1 ratio is a pretty good guide.

Bob you are so right Bob,s knots are wonderful. Below are 2 fan knots from Bob (i have purchased 4 fan knots so far). The brush on the left is a DK handle with the Elite 24 knot which at the opening comes out a 26, loft is 52. The brush on the right is an Elite brush handle and knot, again a 24 which comes out 26 at the opening with a loft of 54.

Theire s plenty of backbone and density in Bob,s knots I don.t look for scrub as I want a strong soft cloud lathering. The DK translucent handle is crystal clear the reflections in the handle are from the book behind it.

Some good thoughts by Bob and Steven about the loft for a 24mm Manchurian White.  It all really comes down to how much backbone you prefer.  What's nice about these knots is that you have some latitude with the loft.  You can set the loft higher for maximum softness without totally sacrificing backbone, or you can set it lower for maximum backbone without totally sacrificing softness.

52-53mm is a good loft for a 28mm Manchurian White bulb.

I just recently ordered a 28mm Manchurian knot (fan shape) from Bob . I'm super excited to receive it and send it to the gentleman that is turning the handle for it . These reviews definitely makes me feel like I made the right decision . Beautiful brushes everyone .

We'll look forward to seeing pictures of the finished brush.  I expect you'll be very pleased with the 28mm Manchurian White knot.

Latest acquisition from Bob:

2 Band "Manchurian" 26/52mm in LARIMAR stone handle (60mm).

This my first stone handle and it is a beautiful material with great heft and balance.
