So I was comparing a few of my favorite synthetic brushes and just eyeballing the knot where it meets the handle. I noticed that my Wolf Whisker's brush (24mm) looked larger than my Muhle XL v2.
So I grabbed my calipers and carefully took a couple of measurements.[Image: 73f4d084e1c94679a77d52c0f6717ac0.jpg][Image: ad28b508155c671b81e321bd7d22356b.jpg][Image: 67abb2e6f268de611601662649010ff9.jpg]

All three are larger than the specified knot size, at the handle. I know that the knots are set to a specific depth but wouldn't a 26mm knot be set into a 26mm hole and be 26mm at the handle? Or are we only taking the measurements at the base/glue plug?

Here's a lather shot of the Wolf Whisker's

Clearly the vino is throwing off your measuring and posting skills ;-)

But yeah I've always felt like measurements have a decent amount of wiggle room, having received brushes that are bigger and smaller than 'advertised.'

I have re-knotted many brushes with Silvertip, Black Badger, Horse, and Synthetic; I recall that all have measured larger above the glue-bump (where it usually meets the handle) than at the base.  Where the manufacturer takes the measurement seems to be the variable.
