From what I've read it seems to be just the oxide finish .

Just the oxide, the polished is smooth as butter.

One thing I have to mention that I haven't seen anybody address . It seems like there are several threads comparing the Timeless against some of the big dogs out there in terms of loved razors . One thing this tells me is that Timeless is quickly becoming a beloved and very well regarded piece in the shaving community . I've shaved with a Wolfman , BB , Weber , Ikon pretty much you name it and I honestly have to say it is right there with all of them and in most cases in my opinion out performs many of them . By no means am I saying the others aren't great , hell I own the others with the exception of the Wolfman . Even though I love the Timeless it will never be the only razor I own . For one thing I love to collect and the other I love having the diversity in my den . Each razor in my eyes offers something different . I know this really wasn't relevant to this thread but just wanted to throw it out there .

We seem to be experiencing a renaissance in razor manufacture. Like comparing: cars, guitars, watches, knives, stereo equipment, bicycles, golf clubs, bowling balls, tennis racquets, sneakers, shoes, cufflinks, yachts, restaurants, fishing rods, turkey calls, etc...; no losers here, just preferences.

It's on the machined finish as well but when you get the angle right and no pressure it's not an issue, doesn't affect the shave at all.

Thanks for the responses on this. That is good to know. Looks like polished is the best option for the BB.

I have the Timeless in both smooth bar and OC, both gaps. I can't seem to get a good shave; 0.68 is too mild, 0.95 leaves me irritated. I have a BB polished SB on the way. Hopefully is suits me better.
