I asked this question on the Unrefined Shea Butter thread, but thought I'd make it a seperate thread.

I buy most of my sheabutter and argan oil on amazon or at my local cosmetique store.
But I use so much of both, that I thought I'd try a bulk buy.
I found this site "Lotion Crafters", where you can buy anywhere from 4oz up to several pounds at the time.
The review I found were good, but they were all a couple of years old.
Does anybody have any experience with them?
What is the quality like?

Or do you have any other recommendations for bulk purchase of east african sheabutter (Shea Nilotica..) and/or argan oil..?

No experience with the site you mention, but I have good experience buying shea butter (unrefined, certified organic and fairtrade) from Akamuti in the UK - they sell in half kilogram and whole kilogram packages. They also sell argan oil, but I have not bought that from them.

Lotion Crafter is 100% safe and a fine company.  I've not purchased shea butter from them, but I do use them for Optiphen and other things.

If you'd like 10 or 25 POUNDS of the stuff, I would send you to Soaper's Choice.

I have no hesitations recommending either.

Thank you Paolo.
I'm so happy to hear that, because I couldnt wait, and I just put in an order at L.C. (5lbs of Nilotica + argan)
I will checkout Soaper's Choice. Maybe I'll try it for my next order.

Hans.. Akamuti looks like a good choice for Western Shea (especially if your in Europe..), but they dont seem to sell in large/bulk quantities.
And no Shea Nilotica (east african sheabutter..).
But I will pass on your tip, to anyone looking for normal 4oz size Smile

Sheabutter is made from the Vitellaria paradoxa (karité or shea tree..) which contains stearic and oleic acids.
But the eastern shea comes from Vitellaria Nilotica (Vitellaria of the Nile..) a Karité tree sub-species only found in southern Sudan and nothern Uganda, which contains an even higher number of oleic acids, making for a more soft and creamy butter.
I've used sheabutter for years, but just resently discovered the difference between the two.. Actually here on TSN! (You guys are the best!)
Try it out. You will feel the difference.
Shea Nilotica feels like a more luxorious Sheabutter.
Also the scent is different. Nilotica is more subtle and also sweeter..

Thank you for this!
55lbs is a little much for me, and I already ordered what I wanted from L.C., but this is a very nice site, and they have a very nice selection of products.
No Nilotica, but still a lot of products I'm interested in.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'll have to try them in the future..

They also sell in 14 oz containers and 7 lbs pails for both refined and unrefined butter.   argan oil is in 14 oz and 1 gal containers.  The best quality and best prices I can get.  They are my suppliers for almost all my soap supplies.
