Hello Nookers;

One basic tip that I learned by myself (not soon enough) is to turn the water off, so you can listen to your razor.  In straight razors they talk about singing blades, imagine that!

That being said, i read a while ago right here in TSN that playing some music while you shave is a good way to make the whole experience a little better.

So, i blended both tips and now I play music in my iPad at less than half the volume.  Just enough to hear it, not so much that you don't listen to your razor.

Simple question:  what music do you play while shaving?

I play jazz.  Mostly Al Jareau (rest in peace) my favorite singer of all time, who passed away recently;  and Anita Baker, so powerful and sexy!

The playlist on my phone is an odd collection... eurodance, ragtime tunes, steampunk, heavy metal, rock operas, modern pop, and still more. The secret, as you found out, is to keep the volume low Smile

Thanks for your replies. I love most of what you guys mention. Dont know if i want to the shave listening to Maiden or AC/DC, which i love. But to all its own!

The thing with harder genders of rock is that you have to pump up the volume to feel the enery of the music... bla, thats my milage...!!!

Some of Iron Maidens older stuff - the stuff up to Fear of ther Dark, and in particular Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - is good for shaving if you're already a bit pumped up Tongue

I have tried to listen to music while I shave but I always end up stopping the music. I need to heard the sound of my facial hair getting cut off!

Al Jarreau was a favourite of mine, when I grew up. Very few knew him here in Denmark, even less know him now.
If I had to pick one favourite track overall, not just with AJ, but overall best track, AJ's Golden Girl might be The One.

I also was a big Anita Baker fan, especially when I was a teen from 1988 and 5-6 years into the 90's I listened to her music a lot. As with AJ very few knew her music in Denmark, even less know her now.

As a white Dane, probably 75% of the music I listen to are black music (R&B, Funk, Soul, Smooth jazz, Hiphop and blues)

I have a broad taste in music.
I can go from listening to Armin Van Bureen, Paul van Dyk and other trance/electro music one minute, to hard Hiphop the other minute to smooth jazz and end up with Jimi Hendrix and The Doors before I need silence

I prefer smooth jazz and easy going pop music, played at low volume, while I shave though.
It's important for me to hear my whiskers get cut, especially during the last pass, so low volume is preferred.

I'm also often a late evening/night time shaver, and can't wake up the girl friend.

Nice post.

I am tuned to jazz right now, but as you and the warrior put it, there is a different music for every different kind of mood. Will try that. Up to now i am striving to begin the day with a relaxed note. Will probably end up measuring up the day to come and selecting a music gender. Then i will end up shaving with a specific razor associated with that gender.

I will end up having a Wagner shave, or shaving with a The Police razor. Jajajaj. Its that OCD?

Best regards....

I listen to an AM radio station that plays music from my era, i.e. the late 1950's through the late 1970's.  Generally there's very little chatter and few ads.

I watch shaving videos on YouTube while shaving mostly haha.  Or i just listen to some of my favorite pastors give a sermon.  If and when I do listen to music ("if and when" being ironic since I make a living in music) I'll listen to classical symphonic, classic rock, or classic soul... or 90's R&B  and HipHop. ;-)

I mostly listen to the eclectic music mix from Radio Paradise. I have whole house music set up and usually direct it to play in my bathroom only; I shave at night as well. RP has a very nice phone app that I can live stream or cache 6 hours of music and sync it to my receiver. It's easy and really practical, streams at a bit rate of 320k AAC commercial free. If I'm in the mood I'll play records mostly if not all are from the 60's - 90's though that requires me to walk out in between passes and flip it over

Frank Sinatra:

Fly me to the moon
The way you look tonight
Young at heart
Summer wind

I feel so dandy when I shave.

Ravel Bolero, Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells, Wendy Carlos  Switched on Bach, Rick Wakeman White Rock. I define my taste as eclectic.  Cool

If I do, I listen to The Gospel Station Network.  They play Southern Gospel music.
