Anyone else use Single Edge razors and not want to use a DE razor ever again? My shaves have been THAT GOOD with the General Colonial razor and Artist Club blades that I can't get myself to use my DE razors anymore. I would get some irritation and ingrown hairs every once in a while with DE razors. Since using only SE razors, I don't have any issues getting BBS without irritation or ingrown hairs. Maybe it's the sharpness of the Artist Club blades or the rigidity of the way the razor holds the blade, but, in my eyes, the SE razors that use Artist Club blades are superior shavers than DE razors with flimsy De blades.

i still use both since i enjoy each shave differently.  but i have found the new se's give me a better shave quicker.  my de's don't shave as close generally unless is overdo the passes.  but these things change fast these days. how about somebody create a 1/2 blade se for my nose.

I picked up both an Asylum Rx and Cobra since the beginning of the year and they are giving me the best shaves of my life.  My DEs are getting little use at this point and its making me wonder if they ever will.  My current plan is to travel with a DE and leave the SEs at home.  We'll see how that works out.

I dabbled with a feather AC kamisori a few years back.  My experience with the Rx is peaking my interest in giving that another try as well.

I enjoy using both types but I get the closest shave with the Schick Injector that I have been using since 1961.

That is amazing! Holding onto the same razor that long.

I have been very tempted to get the Shave Asylum RX but I hate the idea of having to buy different blades.

The razor was given to me for my 15th birthday from my Dad.  I also still have the Old Spice Mug but the soap, boar brush, and Mennen After Shave are long gone.

I used these as a teenager.  They were quite rough on my face.

The General from Colonial currently gives me the best all around results ever. I use both blades, Feather Pro and Kai Captain, with the same good results.

I find my face gets a little raw if I use SEs for too many days in a row, although they produce a great shave.  I like to alternate my King Cobra, Classic Cobra, and GEM MMOC with my DEs (BBS-1, Wolfman, etc.).

Cheers,
Eric

I haven't found the SE that will take me there. I've used Cobra, Schick, GEM including a Damaskene and a Streamline.

And I usually reach for a Weber. In my den, its the "go to" daily driver.

Mongoose is the only razor I own and I see no (good) reason to buy another. . .

A DE blade hasn't tortured my face in 5 years or so. I started with vintage SEs and my two favorites there are the GEM MicroMatic Clog Pruf and the EverReady 1914. I then tried the modern Artist Club style razors like the Cobra, Mongoose, & General. My favorite is the OneBlade though as it gives me my preferred blade, the GEM PTFE, in a comfortable to hold platform.

Funny you should ask, Sweet Reason.  A couple of years ago I got into devette shaving -- DE razor without the baseplate, or with a narrow baseplate that leaves the blade completely exposed. The shaves were as close as can be, and I enjoyed the sensation of the unprotected blade edge against my face. Last year I discovered Feather Artist Club blades, which I used in Feather and Kai straights (shavettes) and later in the ATT SE2 and the General. The Feather AC Pro Super blade in these razors gives me the quickest, closest most effective shave ever. I never looked back.

Until today. Just for the heck of it I took out my ATT H2 Kronos and loaded a fresh Gillette 7 O'Clock Permasharp (Indian green). After one and a half passes I put it down and went back to the SE2. I could tell that it would take more work to get to BBS with the H2 and I didn't want to risk the irritation. Nothing mows down whiskers like those Feather Pro Super blades! I don't think I'll be tempted to go back to DE anytime soon.

I recently made the switch...simply put, an amazing shave. No more 'chasing the blade'.

I haven't fully embraced SE razors for all of my shaving, but for the past 2 years they have given me 98% of my shaves. My favorite is the ER '24, but every once in awhile I'll use the GEM OCMM. Presently I have a blade in one and it'll stay in that razor until I can it. My other SE razors are thinking I've forgotten them and they're right.

Every once in awhile I'll pick up a DE razor, but that is very rare.

Does the Schick Injector use regular S/E blades, or does it need special ones?
